This is a worklog on my current project. Edit: This is in no way meant to be a competitor to Drakmin, his work is absolutely awesome. See this as the retarded ghetto step-brother ;)

    Project Orange Feeling

This project is a battery powered, selfcontainted Logitech Z-5450 with B&O speakers. I started this project in the autumn with a small amplifier from www.41hz.com but due to my superior electrical skills I somehow managed to short it :duh:

So when spring came and I got my new surround system ordered I picked up on this project again. I am not very able with electronics so it won't be the coolest most energy efficient battery wagon, but it'll work.

I already made the base a couple of months ago, and now it is time for the upper-level which contains:

    Logitech Z-5450 Head unit.
    Logitech Z-5450 Bass unit.
    2*B&O BeoVox 45 - 25 years old and still rocking solid :D
1 12v, 60A car battery with room for 3 more when I have the cash to upgrade.
1 Inverter from 12 volt to 230 volts for my Z-5450.

    The base unit contains:
Constant 12v supply - modded with a 12cm Antec fan since I didn't trust the supplied one to keep it cool.
50 meters of extension cord so if the wagon is anywhere near an electricity plug there is unlimited music.

The plan is to have some sort of iPod dock/platform on the top. The headunit of the Z-5450 will be visible through the front portion of the wagon. (Anyone know how to mod the display from blue to orange? Would look awesome)

Oh, and e-cookies for anyone who can guess why the name is "Project Orange Feeling".

So, lots of pictures and some short explanations.

    Speakers to be used:

Lower part of the wagon with the constant 12v supply. The other side of the bottom is for the extension wire:

    Part of the Logitech Z-5450:

    Upper level on wagon:

Making the supports for the "roof", measuring to perfection:

    Look! Straight line!

I love these clamps, nothing beats them:

    Looong plank is looooong:

    I love this saw:

But I'm not really good at using it:

Bring forth the equalizer. Electric powered doom-machine:

    Much better:

    And the roof is on:

Front panel, this is only to cover the sub. The speakers will be left untouched:
Blow-hole for the sub. Whats that tool called in english?
And ladies and gentlemen. This is why you should think before you cut :wallbash: I forgot to take the thickness of the bottom plate into account. Oh well, I have loads of these smaller panels lying around:

I don't know whether I ought to have some fans built into the case for cooling purposes or if cutting some slits to let the warm air rise out would be enough?
