    My plan is to cut the whole back plate out and make a new one. The problem is that its REALLY thick Alu and a b.... to cut. I already used 15 heavy duty cutting disks on it and i am still not finished. But i am getting there!

    Anyway keep up the good work!

    Sorry guys, it seems that I'll have to postpone the update until at least tomorrow, maybe friday. I'm off to work again and don't know how much I can get done moddingwise.

    @antiHero

    Don't cut that with a dremel, save those poor cutting disks :D Go with an angle grinder or a jigsaw, that's if you have the chance to do that...

    I'll be back...:hehe:

    Wow, nice feet.

    One little question: Shouldn't you flip the PSU upside-down, so it takes air in from the bottom? There's not much airspace between the PSU and the center divider.

    The DVD burner...

    Ok, I'm really tired, but decided to give you a small update...

    But first, let's answer some questions.

    @rbxgt2

    No, I havn't thought about doing the whole drive gage out of acrylic. First of all it'd be a pain in the a** to make and secondly I don't think it would even be possible to fabricate with the tools I'm using. And for the pic, a little frightening, but I guess I'll take it as a compliment :hehe:

    @saxman

    I've thought about getting a bandsaw, but since I just bought a drillpress and a beltsander, that'll have to wait :D But yes, I do know there are better ways of cutting aluminium but the jigsaw method just have to do for now...

    @tdkwarrior and anyone else who's concearned about the feet...

    Let's call that one feet I did a prototype. I have something nicer (and more sturdy) in mind...you'll see :hehe:

    @modsquad

    Thanks for the heads-up on the billet polishing compound. The only problem might be that I don't think Mothers is available in Finland...I'll try to find it though or at least something similar.

    @Javerh

    Thanks for the calculations, but like I said, the feet aren't going to be like that anymore. And for the piece, it was bought from a scrapyard, so try to find one near Tampere or ask from a shop that deals with aluminium and other metals. Also it shouldn't be impossible to find a dealer which sells metals to everyone. I know at least two places here in Turku...

    @sunnyg

    The lighting side of the case is a bit of an enigma even for me at the moment :hehe: Well you'll find out soon enough...

    @dabbe

    [Finnish] En oo metallialalla, järkkärinhommia teen tässä opiskelujen ohella, et ihan vaan harrastuspohjalta...[/Finnish]

    @Techno-Dann

    About the PSU, I thought about mounting the unit like you suggested, but if it works like this, it's much better for wire management. Hopefully it'll get the fresh air it needs, but if it doesn't I'll have to flip it around and think the wire routing again. Thanks for the input.

    And thanks to everyone who posted and also to anyone who's following this thing...

    On with the update:

    This is the DVD burner after removing a bunch of stickers and of course voiding the warranty :rock:

    And here it is after I gave it the CF vinyl treatment.

    That was it for tonight, but I have a few things brewing which will make a bigger update once they are done. Well ok, I'll give you a teaser pic...:D

    See you soon...

    you know what they say.....if you want to finish first, you have to be Finnish! :D

    dont mind my comments about the feet! im an undergrad engineer so contantly looking at things and thinking about forces and stuff. I'd think anything was under-engineered if it didn't do it myself :rolleyes: (and they're case feet. do you really need an engineer for case feet? that's overkill)

    great work. looking forward to the next update. :clap:

    The CF is looking good. I tried that very same thing in my (BN) project, but ultimately ended up getting the drive chromed. Your making excellent use of the CF-stuff... :thumb:

    Thanks guys, I'll try to bring you another update tomorrow. The feet are almost ready, window also and maybe we'll even get to see the new hd "rack"...

    Oh yes, I almost forgot, the CF vinyl on the DVD burner is in my trashcan. Time to do something different with that also. You'll see when it's ready :D

    See you soon...

    Ok guys, I'm back again :D Sorry about the lack of updates, I've had some delays and also some medical problems that have made me unable to work on the mod, but now I should be ok.

    I'm off to work now, but I'll update you on the new case feet once I get home. Also I'll answer all the questions that have been left un-answered.

    Keep tuned...
