    No, UV Leds will give the dye this color in a silver reservoir.
    Here a pic of mine, it should be orange :waah:
    On the photo it looks to 100% like in real.

    That's a life time supply of LEd's...
    With that many LEds we hope to see many (many) more projects from you!
    On the subject of Dye in the H20 cooling loop.. Not a big-fan.. Dye adds JUNK to your cooling loop ( residue/solids ) which ends up causing flow-problems. IMHO, colored tubing and LEds in the reservoir is best.. BUT, thats only ME!

    u are right MS
    There is a risk for your watercooling system when u put dyes in it, but I used one, which was tested and got a good mark

    dude, this is one hell of a mod! :dremel: :dremel:
    this is one of the best mods i've ever seen.... :D :D

    i wonder how you managed to get that preety look on the parts that you used all that type off sandingpaper(is this the word?), cause it's great! :eeek:

    btw, one of the best idea that you had on this project, was the colors cause i love the orange&black contrast!

    keep up! :clap:

    Hardware update...

    Well this is kind of long overdue update, sorry about that, things have been quite hectic around here. On the other hand I've been making a bit of progress with the Monster, I'll get to that in a sec.

    First off, Q&A time:

    @Duste + Haoki

    I'll try, but I give no promises :hehe: Seriously though, the Monster really should be ready by the time of the Summer Assembly. Maybe it'll be at the Jimms Pc-Store stand, that's something we'll have to see about.

    @Mother-Gooser

    I'm not too big on lans, just doing this for myself (and of course for the people here on the forums). And isn't Dream Hack in Sweden :D

    @antiHero

    Jimms isn't a sponsor (at least yet). I really want to get this thing ready so there'll be something to prove my skills with before even asking for sponsors. I think that's the way to go if you want someone to sponsor you.

    @mario_cell

    That's a really cool picture, do you have more pictures of your rust mod around? I'd really like to see it.

    @modsquad

    I'm thinking about going both ways, UV-reactive tubing and on top of that some orange dye with the water (that would take care of the res and the blocks). Hopefully I can make it look cool. And I too hope to make several mods after this, at least I now have the leds in stock :hehe:

    @HourBeforeDawn

    Well nothing much has happened here, so no worries. I'd like to think this thread like Days of our lives or Bold and the beautiful, it doesn't matter if you don't watch it for six months, you'll still be able to catch on in a matter of moments :D

    @cr3ativ3

    Thanks for your kind words, I too like the contrast of black and orange. And what comes to polishing aluminum, that's a bit of do-and-learn kind of thing, you'll have to try numerous ways to find a way that best suits your working ways.

    Okay, let's get this small update on the road :hehe:

    [IMG]

    I couldn't resist buying the processor for the Monster after Intel lowered it's prices. I went with Core Duo 2 E6600 which should be quite nice. Also I added a few SATA cables to my shopping cart.

    Then for the motherboard I'm going to go with this:

    [IMG]

    Sorry about the stock image, but it's not available in Finland yet. It should arrive 11.5, so after that I'll be able to install some new hardware in the Monster. And if someone was wondering, this is the new Dfi Lanparty mobo which has nVidia 680i LT chipset (should be enough for my needs and hey, it couldn't be more suitable for this mod) :thumb:

    [IMG]

    Then we'll throw a couple of these bad boys in the mix (I just fell in love with the heatspreaders :hehe:). And that'll give me 4Gb of ram which should do just fine.

    Last but not least:

    [IMG]

    Today I bought the pump for the Monster, it's Laing (Alphacool) pump with acrylic top + a small res which is intended to go on top of the acrylic top. Well that's not going to be used in the Monster, but it was a package type deal, lol.

    Then I'd need some help with the video card. I'm thinking about going with 8800GTS card with 640Mb memory. The only problem is that there aren't much of those cards around with black pcb:s which I'd really like to have. So if you know a manufacturer who uses black pcb material with their cards, please PM me or write it here on the log. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    That's it for now, but I'll have a few rather interesting things brewing for you guys next week. Stay tuned.

    The second I saw the hardware update tag, I Knew. DFI-680i LT.

    They look so good and should fit in nicely with your colour scheme. But anyway, they are some very nice parts. :D

    It seems you and I ahve the same mindset about when you pick a colour scheme, you stick to it. I too was planning on an orange/black colour scheme, but that's fallen through now.

    However, the only 8800 I found that was anywhere near close to black/orange was Inno3D's 8800GTX:

    http://www.inno3d.com/products/graphic_card/gf8/8800gtx.htm

    As you can see, the PCB is black and the cooler is black/yellow/orange. Although, on the index of their GeForce8 page, it has the 8800GTX with a green PCB:

    http://www.inno3d.com/products/graphic_card/gf8/gf8_index.htm

    So you may have to look into it.

    Pump assembly...

    Thanks for the comments and links guys, I'll check them out today. Well I kind of knew that I couldn't stay away from fiddling with the new parts, so I assembled the pump.

    Usually I tend to just show the final result, but this I think has some educational value, so there's also progress pics.

    Let's start shall we...

    [IMG]

    Here's the pump just out of the box. The only negative thing so far is that the top isn't secured tightly on the pump (you can see that the left side is "grinning"), so that would have been a certified leak if put straight to a WC system.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Here it is disassembled and I decided to show you the innards of the pump also.

    [IMG]

    The acrylic top is really gorgeous piece of hardware, I like it :hehe:

    [IMG]

    If you can remember I mentioned that I use "food industry - grade" silicone grease with my scuba gear, so here it is. First off I washed the o-ring since it had some other grease on it. After that I applied a thin layer of this grease to the ring and then put it back in it's place...

    [IMG]

    ...like that. You really don't have to go "overkill" with this stuff, just a thin layer is more than enough. Well you'll see it's value in the next pictures...

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    ...at least in the last pic. It really seals the deal if you know what I mean :hehe:

    So there it is assembled and at once I started thinking about a shroud of some kind for the lower part of the pump...polished alu...orange acrylic...I'll have to sleep on this one :D

    I also played with the pump a bit and I have to say that the test runs were really fun to do. And for being this small, this pump really sucks (in a good way) and also blows (in a good way too). This should be more than enough to keep the water moving in the future setup. And the sound isn't that bad either.

    Well that's it for now, but now I'll leave you off with a small teaser...

    [IMG]

    You'll get to see this thing finished next week.

    @Bas

    Yes, that would be the idea, but I have not been able to found any 8800GTS 640Mb cards with black pcb:s yet.

    How about this card made by EVGA? The 8800GTS made by Club 3D also has a black PCB...

    It wasn't that hard to find those two cards, more are out there :D

    Your project looks good. :thumb: I'm curious to see the final result ;)
