    Nice interview, an interesting read :)
    One thing that has annoyed me in this mod is the color of the acrylic in the pictures. It looks more green than orange.. is that just the cam or is it really a bit yellow/greenish ?

    @Koradhil

    Green? How is your monitor adjusted? To me the pictures of the acrylic look pretty much orange, but sometimes a bit on the red side (and sometimes a bit pink) and a bit yellow than green. I'll have to look into it, but has anyone else had similar problems, the acrylic being green?

    It's especially visible in this picture. I have a dual screen setup with a Samsung 226BW and an AG Neovo F15, on both monitors it shows up green (both on default settings). It will show up green even if I set the color balance all the way to reddish.

    I didn't even pay attention that the acrylic looks green, but all the edges of acrylic looks like yellow and orange (have to blame my crappy Acer AL1711 monitor about the bad colors :grr: ). It is propably just the CF vinyl that result bit of green color in pics...

    For the hunger, I don't belive that any of the reader's have lost their appetite towards to monster. :hehe:

    oh and btw, nice interview! :thumb:

    @Koradhil

    Ah, I see now what you mean :hehe:

    It's the nature of this kind of acrylic to look that way when there's something black/dark colored under it, so yes, it does look green in some places. Though I might change that part still, so maybe it won't look green at the end :D

    @Evenge

    You got it right, it's the CF-vinyl doing it's thing :hehe:

    Next up: Some engraving and water cooling stuff...

    Engraving and watercooling parts...

    Hey all, as you can see, there's something happening again here, pressure for me is easing up a bit, less shifts to do at work and also school is over for now. That means only one thing...modding!

    Let's start with a small update, still not so much work done, but a few ideas and new stuff also.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    I was able to find some Innovatek compression fittings modsquad recommended (thanks a bunch). I had to dig pretty deep from the warehouse where I work, but I found them :hehe:

    [IMG]

    These are actually both Innovatek fittings, but the one in the right has a bit longer threading and also a bit different kind of "nut".

    [IMG]

    These were actually the only kind of fittings that work with this Innovatek tubing I've got.

    Moving on...

    You remember the paint-challenged rad I've got?

    [IMG]

    That ******* :hehe:

    Well I'm going to RMA it and get something else instead, but in the mean while I was able to score a rad I originally wanted for the Monster...

    [IMG]

    It's a Hardware Labs Black Ice GT Stealth 240, a fine looking rad if you ask me :thumb:

    [IMG]

    Also the paint isn't much short of perfect this time :D

    Let's bring out the main subject for today...

    [IMG]

    I got this back from the engraver. This is only in a low lighting, so it doesn't look that hot.

    [IMG]

    Here it is lighted with an ordinary led light and put on top of the Lian Li case. There you can see the Monster-O and also the small grooves that the "CNC engraving" machine leaves behind.

    Let's see how it looks when it's properly lighted...

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Now that's pimpin'! :hehe:

    The final version will be lighted with UV-leds, so the cold cathode is only for photographing purposes.

    Well that's about it for the eye-candy for tonight, I think I'll be able to bring you a few updates next week, so stay tuned :thumb:

    Comments are really welcome, I'd love to hear what you think.

    Very nice, I like the 'evil' O with horns :) Personally I don't like getting stuff done by others. Its would be much cooler if you'd done the engraving yourself.

    By engraving the piece yourself, you wouldn't have been able to get it that clean. It's perfectly engraved! You oughta have a superb steady hand to do the same yourself!

    Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

    @Koradhil

    I know it would have been cooler to do the engraving myself, but I don't have the time, energy and scrap acrylic to practice myself to be good enough. On top of that, it's engraved to the "backside" of the acrylic piece from an mirrored image. I'm no GoTall with the dremel you know :D I might try it someday though, but for now, I'm happy there's an engraving shop in the same building where I live.

    And if you think of it, there are a lot of parts you can't make yourself, the hardware of course, the case, the psu, the waterblocks and so on, but yes, I do get your point about making the "modded" stuff yourself. I'm also thinking about laser etched images on acrylic pieces, like the ones modsquad used on Black Narcissus...

    @Blackcrown

    Hey there, I was just browsing trough your XenoPredator log and I must say that it is one hot mod. I'll have to read it trough with thought and then I'll definitely comment in there too. Great going.

    @alonso_bistro

    Thanks for the compliment, coming from you, it's a big deal for me :thumb:

    Keep them comments coming...

    The placing of the logo is still under wraps, but you'll get to know it soon enough (I actually have 2 possible places for it, but I haven't decided yet).

    Excellent interview. It makes good reading both for those who have seen the Orange Monster and even for those who haven't.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Glad you found those compression fittinngs, the others looked -weird- made me nervous..
    The engraving looks great !! There are a few guys on this site who have excess-to and the skill to use CNC mill. For the rest of use, we gotta-pay!
    Really looks cool!

    Very nice,
    but i think you´ve been able to get it that clean by engraving the piece yourself.
    Here is a very good how 2: Hit me

    Can´t wait to see more.

    @Darkened: I have to disagree on not being able to make waterblocks yourself, for the rest of it, I see your point. And of course the result is so much better this way.
    Like 'said' said, it can be done ;) I've worked with the new Dremel Stylus a couple weeks back, that thing is perfect for engraving things like that.
