Great work as always man! Really love that pump plate. And the alu / orange combo is really nice looking. Are you going to paint the plate?
It's good to see that you are buying quality parts, you won't be dissapointed with it! :thumb:

    Waterblock installations...

    Hey to you all :D

I thought that I'd start this month with a lengthy update, how does that sound?

The topic today is waterblocks and installing them. Let's begin.

Here's the CPU block of choice for me, the Ek Supreme. A really beautiful piece of gear I must admit. You can see that it has suffered a bit from my touch, but still shines and reflects beautifully.

Next up is the hook-mountable block for the northbridge. As you can see, I decided to order all the blocks with acetal tops and nickel plated, just to keep the uniform look :hehe:

And here's the southbridge block, nothing too special there, just a beautiful block, that's it.

This baby isn't going to be installed yet, since I need to play some games on my computer too :D It will be installed once everything else is ready.

I also got a new heart for the monster, G0 fun that is :thumb:

I started the installation process by removing coolers from north- and southbridge and also dropped the new processor in. When I was pre-installing the Ek Supreme block, I found out that it has a bit of a problem with the DFI motherboard. There's an aluminum heatsink near the processor which made it impossible to install the block...what to do, what to do...

...mod the damn thing of course :D

Here you can see how I sanded a few millimeters away from the universal mounting plate to get it to fit (of course nysoo pointed out the next day that there's an 775 mounting plate available from Ek waterblocks :hehe:).

I'll do this update in two parts since I think the picture limit is going to get me if I don't, stay tuned for more...

Okay, recess is over, I'm back for part 2 of the update :hehe:

Let's start the installation and assembly...

Here's how it looks now, all the necessary blocks installed. Next we'll take a closer look at each block.

Here are the northbridge and CPU blocks installed. Don't worry, that tube isn't going to go there, it's just there to show you how flexible that tubing is and also to bring some orange to the picture :D

Each blocks mounting systems had to be modified in some way, with the Supreme I sanded a bit of that mounting plate and added four polished nuts to cover the dull-looking threads of the mounting bolts.

Here you can see the gap I was telling you about.

And there's that hook-mounted northbridge block. Those hooks were shortened a bit and I also added those "thumbscrews" and nuts to keep it in line with the Supreme.

The southbridge block isn't designed for this kind of DFI board, but it sits there quite nicely. I do hope that it won't give me any troubles when the 8800GTS is installed. I can tell you that it's going to be close...

That's about it for tonight, but as usually, I'll leave you off with a bit more artistic picture :hehe:

Ok, now it's your turn to comment, don't be shy, let me know how you feel about this :D

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

If there's going to be a problem, it's going to be with the mounting bolt or the compression fitting near the card, hopefully it's neither, but I'm confident that it can be modded somehow to make it fit :hehe:

Not sure if you still have them in place but in really liking the location of those rocker switches on the bottom panel, think I may have to borrow that idea from now on!! :D
