Here is the start of my project I'm working on. Work will proceed at a steady pace until I run out of cash. The project will have an orange and blue color scheme, with of course, some mesh added aswell. The "³" represents that it's my third project. Here is the case. It's an old rig. Notice the P3 Case badge. Why the hell is the side panel one peice! I've marked out the lines where I'm cutting the panel into three peices. Here is the shell of the case. 15 dremel bits later I have the two fan covers cut off. I can't wait til I get some reinforced bits... There was a vent in the cover, yet they had these brackets stoping some airflow, so I decided to cut them off. Here is the second layer of bondo. I covered up the case badge area, where the leds were, and smoothed out the lower bay. Here is the finished front for now. I'm contemplating on cover up the entire lower bays and moving the power button. But for now it'll stay as is. Later on, I realised I'm going to need better airflow than that. So here I am starting to cut. Finished product. I decided to ditch the idea of an 80mm fan, and go with a 120mm. Here I took the fire grill and cut out the flame, you'll see more of this later on. Here is everything all sleeved. The sleeving is finally done. Phew. Priming will happen once I get the modders mesh in.
Interesting case design, can not wait to see how it comes out with a name simular to another great case here on bit-tech...
Well, you certainly raise the expectations choosing that name for it. Now we're just waiting for a namechange to G-Goblin or perhaps ZapMagician On a slightly more serious note, will be interesting to see what will happen here. Always nice to see someone trying to give new life to such a very beige case.
Your project sounds good, I'm looking forward to seeing why you named it. Good hole cutting, by the way.
Hmm? Just which orifice was that again??? Hey that was some nice dremeling. Keep'm coming. The pics that is!! WZ
Great start to a project. Could you give us a hint on the orifice part. I can't think of any that are orange and blue.
looks liek u used to much hardener in your bondo or u used glasing puddy but either way hope it turns out not looking like any of my orifi
Plz dont tell me you go through more that 1 cut off wheel to cut out a fan grill. You must be joking, well if you arent joking, then go easy on the blades.
8-01-04 Update It's been a while since I've had an update. I had to wait for my the mesh to come back in stock then i ordered late.... Here is the great mesh from MNPCTech. After cutting out the square, I started to bend it to fit. Here it is all fitted and awaiting the bondo. Before the case had a one peice panel, I've turned that into two peices now. I'm considering turning it into three, yet I'm not sure. Sadly, this may be my last photo update, as my second battery has almost died, and I have no idea where the charger may be. Also, after many design changes, Orifice no longer seems to be the correct name for this mod, yet, I'm going to stick with it, as I like the name. Expect an update tomorrow (2nd) or tuesday (3rd).
Looking good so far. Use the magic of bondo to sexify that beige beauty OFFTOPIC: haha I thought you wre talking about me for a minute
Update 08-02-04 Today I had hoped to put some bondo on the front cover, yet, the tube of hardener had dried all out. I'll have to go to the store this week to buy some. Since I had time to spare, I drilled out all the rivets in the chassis. Here is the chassis rivetless, awaiting it's trip to the powdercoater. Expect the next update on the 4th.
