Even though I had to work all day, I got enough energy left to work on the front panel. The acrylic arrived today, mainly red tinted acrylic, but also some thick clear plates (for custom watercooling components) and a 4cm diameter tube (for a custom fillport / reservoir). I've made a copy of the aluminum front panel onto a piece of red tinted acrylic. I neglected to post that I had done the mesh for the front panel yesterday, but here's the final result. The three components for the front panel (1mm aluminium, 3mm acrylic, 1mm mesh): Which come together like this:
Hey guys, I guess you agree with me its time to start working on the project again. I had a break for some time for a couple of reasons, but mainly I didn't have time because I've been working almost fulltime the last month. Last week I got myself a notebook: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2530 - Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 1.8Ghz - ATI Mobility Radeon HD2300 128MB DDR2 - 2x 1GB DDR2 PC5300 RAM - 160GB 5400rpm SATA HDD - 15,4" WXGA TFT CrystalView 1280*800px - Realtek Digital Audio (7.1 SPDIF) - Intel 56mbps WiFi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g - DVD+/-RW Dual Layer - 1.3mp webcam - SD/MS/MMC/MSPRO cardreader - Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 - Windows Vista Home Premium I'm now mostly working on my notebook, which allows me to take Orion apart for modding. So that's exactly what I did today. Also installed the GFX waterblock.
- Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 - yuck OK.. i went trough all pages with this mod. Things U made are really good. I heard that U can paint smth and it will look like carbon fiber by using gauze(covering painting area with it an spraying) Good work!!
Thanks for the hint HeXeN, I might try that some day. For Orion though, I'm not going with carbon anymore. The mouse is actually quite good and very small, perfect for travelling, but at home I can't go without my MX518
Can't believe i missed this! Top quality craftsmanship Koradhil. Looking forward to seeing this completed.
hey Koradhil finally I found that tutorial about painting CF look here it is http://www.briansmodelcars.com/tutorials/tutorial.asp?TutorialID=52&CurPage=1
Thanks, I've seen that technique before. It isn't exactly carbon, but it sure looks good. It can also be done with something more rough such as a fruit net (the wire net in which you buy oranges).
Great stuff so far Koradhil! If possible, I'd like to see more and/or detailed explanation of how you switched the motherboard tray around like that. Please and thank you!
Looks great. Too bad about Epox going under. I used their boards almost exclusively since the EP-8KTA2 days. Keep up the good work.
Sweet paint jobs on everything!!! Love how u painted the waterblock top/bottom! If only u could customize the pci-e, pci, etc... to what ever color u wanted... that would be a cool addition to a motherboard company like ASUS or Msi or something. keep it UP^
Thanks people, couldn't do it without your support @gvblake22: It was actually extremely easy to change it to reversed-ATX. I just took out the tray, removed the rails, turned the tray the other way around and put it back in. The tray is now mounted only to the back side of the case, it doesn't slide in a rail anymore. Later on I will make the tray rest on a new rail or something else. Today I mounted the new front panel to the drive tray. To do this I took two pieces of L-shaped aluminum and mounted these to the front panel with two hex bolts each. Then I drilled holes in the drive tray to mount the L-pieces. This wasn't really all that much work, but it had to be measured perfectly in order for the front to mount flush in the case. I will have to make a new front for the DVD tray, because the original won't fit. The drive can be opened by pressing the aluminum beneath the DVD tray.
WOWOwoWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWOWOW nice project and cool ... good luck show me more soon I'm back to my home wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot the wow starts again heheheh e
Been working on the CPU waterblock. I started out from the waterblock I made for my previous project, Mystique: This block was suitable for a socket A system, but wouldn't fit on the socket AM2 I'm using with Orion. Therefore, I had to make a new cover plate. And after an hour or so I got this: The block isn't ready yet, I'm thinking of spraying it black and adding a piece of 1mm aluminum to decorate the top.
if I would U a woud stic to the mesh theme even on this block:> BTW I LOVE drive bay U made its outstanding!
