    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

im struggling not to be so jealous of you craig :wallbash:

ASUS have even shown your build on their Facebook Page after you posted it on their ROG Forums. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/ASUS?ref=ts

and the fact that youve made the CF into a nice shape while keeping it extremely strong just adds salt to the wounds.

seriously, if youre nominated for MOTY,ill vote for you anyday

Thanks bro. It took me a few years and a lot of dead Dremels to get here though. :D I think anyone can get what they want with a little imagination, and the drive to keep going even when they've got no idea WTF they're doing. Let me put it this way, I'd rather see someone complete a 'rough' build, than to see a great build never be finished. Believe me, I've had rough builds in the past, but I've learned from my mistakes.

Having Asus mention the build was completely unexpected. Darthbeavis mentioned to me a while back that the new forum was coming, and I finally got around to posting it there. It went from 60 views, to 2500 literally overnight. At first I couldn't figure out what was going on. I thought their forums were hosed. I logged in and saw 5 member and 500 guests. I had no idea what they were all looking at. Lol, then I went and checked my twitter feed and saw a link there. I saw the facebook link a short time later. It was crazy.

Yes, it's still incredibly strong. A few people have wondered how much all the rest of the holes have weakened it. Well, let me say, I think it's still strong enough for my daughter to stand on. Lol.

Thanks man! I should have another update in a day or two. I'm currently making molds for the interior assembly. It's going to be a single piece of carbon fiber!

Thanks man! I can't wait either. In fact, today I made a rough sketch for the next project after OSIDIAS. Another scratch build, that's unlike anything I've seen. :D

Update time! Today we pick up with the start of the interior assembly. Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I've decided to make the entire thing out of a single piece of molded carbon fiber. Since the dimensions have to be perfect, I am going to be using a two part mold. An inner and outer layer, with the CF sandwiched in between. In order to pull this off, I've got to do some very careful measurements, and even better cutting.

I'll be using 1.5mm aluminum for the molds. Here you can see a 4' piece marked down the center. I should be able to get both an inner and outer mold out of this 2'x4' sheet.

Next up I've got to mark out all my cut and bend lines. There is no room for error here. Everything is down to the millimeter.

After the rough cuts were made...

After spending a maddening long time with the aluminum in my metal brake, I was left with the following. Mind you this was a little tricky, since it didn't exactly fit in there very well after the first few bends...

Now it was time to stick it inside the case for a test fit. I had no doubt everything would line up, but it's always a good idea to double check.

Next up is the outer mold. Once that is completed, I'll rub down the aluminum with release wax, and play with a little more carbon fiber. Woohoo!

    Fantastic design.
Amount of ideas and work you put in this project is tremendous, that is why it is the best. Period.
