Project OverMaxxed Project Overmaxed gets its name from the maker of the original case, Raidmax. Its a pre-modded case but its not going to stay that way for long. I have had this case for 2 (mabey 3) years now and haven't really done much to it. (i know, i know, how sad) I improved the airflow by cutting out the stock fan grills and removed the plastic piece where the power buttons were and made it a front intake. I bought this case because i needed a case for the parts i had bought. (my old case was an AT!!!) I got this case around 9:00pm and I had it running for the lan that happened at 7:30am the next morning. Not trying to brag or anything, just wanted ppl to know. This case was 90 ******* dollars when i bought it and it didn't even have a psu. But the case is made out of alluminum so at the time i guess it was good for the money. Anyway, my tastes have changed alot in 2 years. (who's havent) Two year ago i had no idea about bit-tech, i had only seen one watercooled computer and been to one lan. I thought pre-mod was cool. Well now i dont like pre-modded cases so thats why this one is changing. Here is a pic of what it looked like when i first built it. Lights On: Lights Off: Ya it looks pretty bad don't it? Around June last year i found Bit-tech and i finnaly joined in January of this year. I started a project but that lost all funding. Then I started Project Sony witch is still in progress (sould update that soon) Now i have been buying parts for about a month and doing alot of cad work. Now i think i finialy have enough stuff to start this thread. So now onto the parts. Here is a pic. The parts you see: A Sunbeam Rheobus Blue Bulgin Vandel Switch 2 XG Gamer blue led fans A clear fan 80mm fan duct UV Green 60mm to 80mm adapter 2 Green ccfls with inverter 2 Bule ccfls with inverter Aspire Thermal Monitor 2 toggle switches 2 push button switches 4 ccfl 12" extentions 3 fan 12" extentions 2 Alluminum Case handles Matrix Orbital LK202-25 Lcd 128x64 Graphic Lcd (soon to be de-soldered from the board with the 3 black squares) The part not pictured: Coolermaster Blue Led fan If you want the system specs look at my sig. Aspire Thermal Monitor Modding I got the thermal monitor for the ports that it has, not for the thermal monitor itself. For pics of what it looked like before look here http://www.svc.com/xp-tm2000.html I took the thing apart and it was just like i thought it would be. The ports were on one board and the thermal moniter was on a seperate one. After i took it all apart heres what it looked like: And the connecters: I will need to make my own cables becuase the one they give you sends the wires out a pci slot and connect on the back. I have mobo headers for all of these ports so i want it to be internal. That will go at the bottom of the case. Sunbeam Rheobus Ideas In order to get the rheobus to fit in a bezel i need to move the leds. I am going to move them directly above the knobs so they are out of the way of the bolts. Because the leds on the Rheobus are so bright i am figuring out a way to dim them. I think if i move them back away from the bezel so they dont stick though and add really dark window tint it might dim them. Final Design I wanted to sow you guys the cool sketch-up i did but i ran out of time so i took a screen shot of cad and added words in Photoshop. On my case there is the plasitc bezel part that clips to the case then there is brushed alluminum then a layer of 1/8" acrylic. The cad drawing is just for the allum and acrylic. This is what the front should look like when done. The lcd cutouts will ony be in the allum not in the acrlic so it they are protected. The ports and switched go all the way though both. The 1/4" holes along the side are for allen head cap bolts like Zap used for his shuttle. I am curently working on the design of the Rheobus Bezel to make the leds less bright and make it fit with the bolts on each side. I have been toying with the idea of putting an flipout lcd in the open bay like ARTbyTROY did from case mod god. On the side of the case there is the pre-mod window which is gonna go. The new window is gonna be bigger than the old one by about 2 inches on each side. Here is a pic: There is a fan hole in the acrylic to cool the ram sinks on my video card becuase the get super hot. The window will be attached with the same bolts as everything else. On the top there is going to be a 80mm blowhole and the case handles. Because i dont have 1337 dremel skillz (i am pretty good but i dont want to ruin the case because i cant get parts for it anylonger) the alluminum is going to be cut by Lunagen Labs and the acrylic is going to be cut by Voyeur Mods. Here is an extra shot with all of the fans at 12 volts. The fan in the middle of the fans on the desk is the clear one with the 2 XG gamer fans on either side and the one in the front of the case is the Cooler Master one. One thing i noticed was that the XG led fan is the same fan as the clear one just with leds. In the pic it shows a samsung cdrw and a dvd rom. I gave the cdrw to my sister and the dvd-rom to my dad and bought a lite-on cdrw. Tell Me what you think!
Thanks Guys. Both switches do the same thing, one for the 2 blue ccfls and one for the 2 green ccfls. I dont know why i didnt type them the same but they each control a light.
nice ideas. what are your plans for the bezel with the rheobus. u said that it will different then just a normal drilled bezel? p.s why would u give away a dvdrom and a cdrw(to your sister none the less)?
Thanks for all the support guys! @Sol Badguy - Well i didnt give them away. I gave my dad the dvd-rom and he bought me a power supply for project sony and i gave my samsung 12x cdrw POS to my sister and my dad gave me his nice Lite-on 24x CDRW because he a a DVD burnner. Belive me i wouldnt have just given the cdrw to my sister.
Agreed. However plans and concepts for mods belong in Modding as per the Project Logs Rules. Project Logs is for solid modding work only. When you have started modding and posted up work-in-progress pics etc, please email an admin or mod and we'll move it back. Good luck with the mod
Thanks for moving it G-Gnome, Took forever for me to find my thread though. I have a new front panel design and bottom design. It has alot of leds and i might get rid of the cold cathods in favor of leds. I also am getting my feet wet with watercooling. I am getting a dual 80mm rad and a swiftech amd waterblock. Oh yeah, I bought a new mother board (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe (not E virsion)) and I am in the process of unlocking my 2100+ so i can get it to run at 2.4ghz like ppl say i can. I also am getting a PS1 lcd screen to mod to vga. Thats it for now. P.S. = Started moddin my M$ optical mouse, just waiting on my leds to get here. Its pretty much gonna be black with an Ice wheel and have a blue led insted of a red one in the sensor. And that Red piece of plastic at the back of the mouse is getting painted black.
