Best way to glue plexi or perspex is to use some shavings in chloroform. you have to apply lots of pressure to avoid bubbles, and hold/clamp it till it dries. it's possible to make it look so good that it seems casted. I used this method to turn 6mm flat sheet perspex into a cylinder for use as a res. once polished, you can't see the join. looks like a great idea you got going here, best of luck.
(for a start were do i get some chloroform from and second i dont want to faint so i will avoid it). (i will do some more reading on the forum)
case fan drawing/moddeling This is a quick screen shoot of the fan and fan base that im making for the case design (the fan base will find its way in to the main case frount to become part of teh frount) but eh fan is for decoration
haha, that laptop was working fine.... you just wanted to see what was inside it... and then you lost some screws and it stoped working once you put it all back together!
It stoped working a little and i wanted to see in side it (wot i carnt help my self i carnt leave something alone for five minuits without taking it apart and seening how it works)
yep that is the plan to have the frount of the facia and it will have a duel loop water cooling system. ive got some more case design pics to put up tonight and give some details about the method in which i will make this behemoth.
Hey Trati I'm not sure where you'd find chloroform, I'm in South Africa, and don't worry, you won't pass out from using it, just don't do it in your car. lol You might be able to buy it from a pharmacy, or maybe a hardware store. You won't use a lot of choloroform, just enough to make a paste out of the shavings, I've done this and it works beautifully.
There are off-the-shelf glues out there that do the same thing... but its hard to find the right one.. You'll be using plexi, so it can't be one that disolves the plastic too quicky... Google is your friend: http://www.science-projects.com/Plastics/PlexiglasWork.htm
Hi all this is how im going to cut the plexi to shape. first im going to make a template out of MDF or Plywood then clamp/screw the plexi and another peice of MDF or Playwood so i will have a sandwich of wood and plexi. the template will enable me to use a router to cut the plexi out in straight lines and get good curvers. (i was going to use a milling machine but then relised how much they cost and i am on a limited budget (i was also thinking about renting one out for a long weekend and take some timeoff work but i carnt find any to rent from any were if any one knows of a place to rnt one or has one they they could lend me that would be perfect)even if i do get hold of a milling machine i will still use the router to cut out the holes for the tubing.) also i have a development in the drive bay area, were i was goingto get the text above the buttons machined out i will now leave it black and put some two way mirror film on the back and like in the gigabyte case put a peice of film with the text on and some LEDs behind so that only the text shows through in blue. http://tw2005.giga-byte.com/DeskTop/FileList/ProductImage/
