Hi guys, I am introducing my first project.

It's called panda because of the black&white theme of the project case - Antec 300. Maybe some of you think (I hope not) I am copying b&w theme from Fractal define R2 case, but nope, this was planned about a 1.5 year ago. :p

First I made a sketchup model of case :

ITS IN THE LINK so if you want to be surprised don't click :D
    http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/5493/a300blhimurobott4.jpg

I edited the antec 900 model and created this 300. Unfortunately I haven't got colour image of this now. I also created the model of scythe himuro which will be used. For those who are interested - models for sketchup can be found on http://scc.jezmckean.com/ .

    My hw :

Here is the case in tearing down part :) the new antec 300s are also SSD compatibile and got this nice backplate hole.

Unfortunately I won't be taking my camera with me to the workplace, only my phone, sorry for bad quality of some pictures.

    WORK STARTING - UPDATE 0 :

I de-riveted the top panel and the lower hdd cage

The cage - > out and I will use those two cable ties later.

    [IMG] [IMG]

The top panel (covered with painter's tape) - gonna spray that black

    [IMG] [IMG]

The hole for the front i/o to pass thru

    [IMG] [IMG]

The 5.25" cable-hole is here, I haven't got the right tools like dremel or nibbler so I just drilled 1/8" holes and then punched out the circle.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Yeah and I forgot, I thought that i will use the hole-saw but then I realised - it cuts only wood :wallbash: [IMG]

This is what it does with metal - pretty "sharp" eh? :eyebrow:

    Now additional holes :

    [IMG] [IMG]

Meanwhile I sprayed the 120mm fan cages and the top metal piece :

Now to clean this metal madness everywhere :D

The first stage of the positioning the himuro box and drilling the himuro holes.

The stands were cut by my new scissors for sheet metal.

Now back to case, after drilling some additional holes (for himuro etc.) comes first coat of metal primer :thumb:

That's it for now, next update tomorrow

Have you thought of a PSU fan intake hole in the bottom of the case?

I've just done one, well worth it as your PSU gets fresh air rather than the GPU waste and it is easy to do.

I did mine as a 92mm hole and it is centered on the middle of the 120m PSU fan. I have a grill outside and just sourcing a filter.

Yes i was thinking of doing it but i'll rather have the psu fan facing up, like this

or i'll just flip it down, depends on temps and airflow, i think it has sufficient breathing room when facing down.

    New photos soon !

With the TX PSU, the cables will be on the side farthest from your cable routing holes when the fan is facing up. With the fan face down, the cables align perfectly with the routing hole.

with those stock coolers hot air comes out of the back of your card since there is a blowerstyle fan in it.. also most hot air rises up so the PSU wont make it cooler that way.. but i guess it doesn't affect in a bad way either..

I still don't know what card i'll use, now i have radeon x800gto which has only shader model 2.0, so i'm thinking about an hd5770.

And some bad news, remember that hole i made for i/o cables up there?

it's too small so i have to enlarge it :duh:

love the sketchup model, very detailed. Looks like a very clean build.

Whats the block of metal at the bottom/front of the case? A hard drive silencer? Will it get enough air flow there? I'd be tempted to raise it up a bit so its directly in front of the fans

It's the Scythe Himuro 5,25" Hard drive cooler (it also silences a bit), on my old hdd it dropped temps about 10 celsius :thumb:
its placed directly to the airflow of down intake fan.

anyway, tomorrow i must go get new riveter.
