    Thanks for commenting!

It's about time we mod the...

"Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro Series Sound Card"

(Say that 5 times without stumbling over the words..lol)

We're going to paint the X-fi's faceplate, give a old steel & weathered look to fit our Panzerbox's paint job. Before you think about masking off everything, the X-fi is very easy to dismantle (Yay!) heres the pictorial guide. Oh btw, a solder iron will come handy for removing the 3, orange razer thin buttons, just heat up the 2, tabs and pull it out. You can use super glue or melt the tabs to reinstall it later

What's you guy's opinion of Creative? I bought "something?" Don't even remember what but it wasn't for me a while ago and get emails like every other day about sales on this or that.
Is Creative a something to consider for a future Rocketfish mod?

I have never owned a sound card so I am a NOOB.

Still waiting for my supplier to get the north/southbridge block in stock and type 1 mosfet cooler. Then I can put in my gtx 295 water block and front 120mm rad :D

Nice window! and love the Black coolant lines too :thumb:

Before painting the shroud, we need to apply a plastic adhesion coat of primer for the 120mm fan shroud on the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme. After that was cured, a couple oof coats of House of Kolor's Metallic silver was applied for the base coat, to give it more of steel look. Brad airbrushed it with shadowed features and screw heads around the shroud

The Thermalright fan was replaced with a Logysis 120mm red led fan and paintef Matte Black with Krylon's Fusion.
Black Honeycomb Modders mesh Fan grill was attached to the outside, it provides ample airflow too. It also reminds me of barbed wire. fyi: You must drill holes into the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme shroud to attach a 120mm fan grill

The Logysis fan after being painted Matte Black with Krylon brand "Fusion" paint for plastic.
Heres the 120mm Honeycomb Fan Grill for the rear of the shroud.

The Black grill reminded me of Barbed Wire

@ John - I have an Auzentech X-Plosion Cinema 7.1 sound card, sounds amazing. Personally I wouldn't buy Creative after that huge scandal they had over accusations they cripple their own products through the drivers, they almost took a software modder to court after he unlocked the drivers and found out that his basic card was identical to the top of the line one and started distributing his "improved" driver.

@ EngelMacher - I must say that is a very nice mod. I was thinking of doing the same but didn't think it would fit lol.

@ Bill - The fan shroud looks amazing but personally I have to agree with Pashtet, I think the mesh would look better on the inside. I know you are going for the whole military/wolfenstein look but I think it just looks "wrong" you know?

thats what I wanted too, but the tolerances are too tight for the fan to fit flush... I'll look at it again

Heres the shadowing on the center bezel for the fatality X-fi, next we're gonna add a tint of blue, for more of a steel look

    hmm looking interesting there.

I like the new cooler, i was sure that it was not going to be left stock with you :thumb: .
I don't know about putting the mesh inside the shroud, this does portray the industrial/military look as it is, I think that it looks original like that (maybe with some touch ups to the edges).

@The boy 4rm oz - Thank you! I thought it wouldn't fit either, thats why I had to try it!
I went from a massive Thermaltake SwordM case to a super small Panzerbox.

@Bill - Your full of suprises with this mod! I wonder what things you have in store for that semi out of place ice blue mother board. Can't wait to see how this mod unfolds!

The HSF turned out really nicely. I like the "fencing" on the front, even though it is purely cosmetic. It adds to the flavor.
