Good work with the grill.. Less so with the name :D Ok it made me lol, but I really wouldn't like to say "I built Paris Hilton". My choice would've been either BIC (bulimia in camoflage) or AEMWDLI (anorexia even my wife doesn't like it). Keep up the good work!

Nice start. I really like the fan grill. Well done. BTW, what bit did you use on the dremel and what speed. I find the spiral bit the best and at about an 6 or 8, anything faster and the plexi begins to melt.

Remember to allow for the PSU. I like the thin design.

The grill is looking quite nice so far. However, isn't naming your project Paris Hilton rather asking for a computer that doesn't use all the cpu power and goes down all the time?

It will go down alot & it will use all the cpu power - but thats just to be able to do simple things. Doing advanced things would mean having dual minimum or better yet quad cores, so in other words, the pc will be vista ready.

Ok from Wonka's edit I have decided to keep the new Name. It suits this project very well. P4 2.8GHz Northwood core. Can't do very much but it can still do the basics.

If it has quad cores then I can't name it Paris Hilton anymore. LOL

Problem with the new name, though, is it's not a carputer. It can't flash it's naughty inner bits (ooh, erm) to waiting paparazzi when you unmount it and bring it inside. :wallbash:

It's funny, when I was browsing the forum I saw the new name and thought - "what, 2 computers based off of a skinny-ass theme?"

At least the new name fits the concept.

Alternate names (although I think the new name would be a long remembered one here on bit-tech)

    The Flockhart
    The Lohan
    The Olsen
The Hepburn (would be a bit classier, but she was a tiny thing, I am talking Audrey)

The T.Rain (watch some pron and figure out who I am talking about)

That's a full page of discussion about the name of a project - a bit-tech first possibly? You gotta catch the thread drift samaya, before you know it, there'll be another page on stuff like: moral use of money, eating properly, sex, which skinny celebrity is the hottest/thinest/sluttiest etc
I think the only change this log has is regular updates actually, i can see the thread dirfting again between updates if left waiting too long :hehe:

I didn't expect this many responses to the naming of the case. Updates will only unfortunately occur weekly only because I can only mod over weekends :miffed:

Anyway so before I get slapped for having too few updates here is one. I worked on the one side panel yesterday. It took forever to get the edges at an angle but was worth it. I also bent the plexi panel to fit the back panel.

The edges all have this angled edge

Fitted and fixed with some pretty button head screws

Not much of an update but this took very long to get right. I still have to polish it more and then do the front panel.

I had a problem with my orbital sander a while back and had to have it replaced under guarantee. This took 4 weeks to manage, BW service is not so good when it comes to things like this. Anyway I had some time to mod yesterday and did just that.

I cut the main side panel for this case, I polished the clear plexi and then fitted everything together.

    Before polishing
    [IMG]

    Half way there
    [IMG]

    And done.

I did the polishing with my sander using only 1200 grit sanding paper. Obviously 400 as well because I had to get the fine scrathes out but the 1200 was used to finish it off.

After I polished these edges I fixed the clear front to the side red panel.

Then onto the main panel, the one that keeps everything in its place.

After a lot of measurements and filing away excess it came out looking like this
    Front
    [IMG]

    Back
    [IMG]

I still have to polish the edges of the black perspex, cut the hole for the CPU fan, add the on/off, reset and DVD drive buttons, cut out the MoBo connectors and then do some more small detailing.

I hope you enjoy this little advancement
