Like I said old pictures, the chrome molding is gone, that button was their for test purpose, and the HDD still has to be mounted And its not passive cooled. the fans circulate the flow nicely just the way I wanted, CPU is 31 Celsius so........ Remember its only a celly 466
right I forgot about that.. Th eheatsink looks just like my p4 1.5... So I got a wee confusumathuf and the crome molding GONE.. Oh NOOO!!!! WHY... lol kidding... what it look like without the crome molding? and also, put that hdd into some place stable.. NOW... use LOTS of duct tape or maybe you should take your time and plan out a good spot for it to go and make it look 10000 times better and and and and... I suddenly got a little hyper... and now I am hyper because I am hyper.. and being hyper means I am hyper.. also, if I am hyper, then I am hyper, which of course means that I am hyper. Oh, and did I mention that I am hyper. And being hyper means that I am silly, and being sill........*gets smacked on tyhe head by a.... *gets smacked on the head again fo... *gets smacked on the head again for typing...* hey, looks like the smacking thing went away...
Then it is passivly cooled, not cooled directly with a fan but with case cooling allowing enough cool air around the heatsink thus passivly cooling the chip.
But it's still a fan circulating the air inside the heatsink! And therefore it's not passive. But, that something isn't completely passive isn't important, the important thing is that it's quiet. Good work there mate! Keep on
Passive cooling is simply a heatsink placed on a component. Some graphic cards use passive heatsinks. When you add a fan to help move the warmer air, you step into air-cooling. A search for passive cooling +cpu might get you some helpful links. I've heard when you use a fan, its called active cooling. And a visual at this link
Right a bit update this time But first let me thank Bart_Banaan for sending me the laptop HDD Also nice to know is that BB even has a sense of humor, a strange one but it is humor. Well cant say he dint used a to small box But obviously that disk, had to have some modding . So quikly removed the stickers and polish that **** Bling Bling, can a ***** get a Wh00p Wh00p. The HDD still had to be installed in the case, so I made a little holder for it. Design. Sawed. And sanded and polished Bling Bling. Then I welded the holder to the front the case with some chloroform And it fits . And now some buttons, for the fans and leds, cuz I want to be able to turn al that bling bling and flickering off So I made some holes and bashed some buttons in it And we added some later.
I also wanted the baseplate to be lit-up. So I experimented with some RGB led’s, I think it turned out alright
I think we just found out who the King of PlexiGlass is. We bow to you Resetter! You #^@**%ng rock. That hdd mod puts you on par if not above the legendary G-Gnome!!! on bro!
Last time i checked 31 C so cool enough. Heeey I also made a hdd holder , ow and all I did ?, I haven’t seen u doing anything spectacular lately
very very nice, my hat goes off to you. I plan to do something cool with a plexi based case as my next project, i dont really want to just buy an acrylic case, id rather go and construct my own to fit exactly what i want inside. Very inspiring stuff, good job. Cheers
Here are the reasons for me saying that Atomic. I'm grading on a curve. Resetter accomplished his hdd holder on his first attempt. Nailed it, with no goof ups or anything. The LED usage. Simply awesome looking. While G-Gnome is quickly becoming known for neon green and clear plexi, I'm seeing Resetter demostrate professional level of skill. Call it unfair, or disagree with the whole opinion. I don't really care Resetter: Could we see some perspective shots of the hdd holder unlit and lit?
I will post some kickass photos when its finished u need to see the whole of it, the camera doesn’t get the real luster of it, i might put a small led in the hdd holder itself. Still gotta play with some of the stuff. Nice tought I was looking @ the first image, u know just a bunch of plastic, and I’m stunned what the result it, it got better then i had in my mind
Wonderful cut and finish on the plexi - very professionally done, unlike most people's (myself included) work.
