[discussion here ] Hi all, I've been looking all the log for more then a year but never feel the need to post...but now that I have a project, it's different! First, it's not a computer project but a Pod-building from scatch for school project. For those who are wondering what a pod is, it's a kind of simulator for racing games like you find in arcade. Here is the final drawing of the pod. The monitor goes on top, the racing wheel just under it on the small plate and I will sit in a car seat. The holes on the big side plates are not only for the design but will be used to hold the mouse/keyboard (you will see later) So, my friend and I started by doing the side plate: 1 hour and an half later: Another hour and an half later: Yeah, 3 hours by plate...all done by now but worth it after some buffing, beautiful isn't it? Then, we did the small plate to hold the racing wheel: We don't have any cat of dog to show off at school but we do have a mascot : With these plates done, we started folding the tubing for the frame but it wayyyy harder then expected so it will be a bit different (simpler) then the drawing. We can work on it on spare time (2 hours on wednesday, 3 hours on thursday) and all day long on friday so expect more update on these days each week 'til done. Oh and sorry if my english is kinda funky sometime...I'm trying to do my best
Never seen anything like this before, very original its better then paying thousands for one, here you get exactly what you want will definatly be watching
Hey all, small update here...not a lot of pics since I passed the day in the welding department. Frame builded with 1" tubing: with the plate: Next update will be the monitor/steering wheel assembly
Thats sweet man, I'm thinking of making one in the future, prob just hook my main rig up to it to use it and have a spot where I can just sit my LCD without having to bolt it in. Can't wait to see how this turns out!!
Another small update; it's taking shape this picture is pretty cool I forgot to take picture at the end of the day the steering holder is done and we bought the car's seat but it isn't mount yet. We need to figure out how and where to hold the keyboard/mouse See ya next week
Steering wheel fixation: keyboard/mouse emplacement: overall view: The construction is done...the pod now need some bondo, primer, black paint and clear coat. final update next week!
wow looking good! i think you need to paint it flat black and get someone to do real old-fashioned red and white pinstriping all over it. i think itll give it a good retro flair. maybe thats just me
This looks like some giant steel sled , in winter, take it down some big hills . Looks amazing though, keep up the good work!
thats a really nice looking frame, I wanted to build a pair of those, well the concept anyways for mame and newer rally stuff. if i remember correctly thats a Honda Del Sol drivers seat, right?
