Thanks for the comment MS, i hope that this will become as ground breaking as you challenged me to :)

I belive i have ubuntu installed right ow, but that may be up for a change.
Im thinking that im chaging this box to a media node, then create a server box later on down the road... but im still not sure.

I would feel bad if i posted and didnt have a picture, so heres pretty much all i did today... (sadly i know)

I greased up the HS and attached it to the mobo...

As soon as the weld-on arrives, i can re-attempt the risers, and such.
So this next week, my goals are:
    1) mount the risers
    2) fashion the rear I/O panel.
    3) design the front panel.

Should be a fun filled week... I also have to get a low profile sound card :-\ ...
    or new mobo... arg...

For plastic to plastic weldon is good junk. I broke 1/8th inch acrylic without touching the glue joint. I kicked something I made years ago.

Im not understanding your post hydro

goodjunk? im assuming you mean its good, but then you mention it breaking...

weld-on has a life expectancy of two years, so i dont know if they mean the solvent will stay god in the can for two years, or a joint will be strong for two years.

Besides, the weld-on will be better than model airplane glue... so for now i play the waiting game.

MS: the distro of linux i use hasnt been decided yet, but i do have ubuntu cd's handy, and its already loaded, so ubuntu is just convienent...

I decided that im going to build 2 computers simultaneously...
One for my server needs, and another for my media client needs.

I bid on a 1.7ghz sempron on ebay, which should be great for media needs.
Once i win that, i will look for a mobo and some ram. And another PSU (1u of course)...

geeze this mod is going to break the bank... i need a job :$

he says the acrylic broke before the glue joint did.

and dont use redhat, its not good on slower systems. the good thing about gentoo or debian is that you can install onyl what you need and whatever runs best on your system. leaving the install nice and clean and as barebones as you need it. then again if you wanna do a media system go with geexbox and instead of using it as a boot cd load it to the hard drive,

Ya it was some acryclic that I kicked and it snapped a good chunk off the acrylic. Weld-on has a shelf life of 2 years once open I believe. I also believe that its a permanent adhesive. Junk=glue. I used some I think #3 gel weld-on for my acrylics that I made years ago. They where submerged in a pool for a few minutes for testing of what I made which was supposed to go in the pool. Needless to say the airpump didn't have the pressure for 8 feet of water.

Sorry for misunderstanding that post hydro_electric_655 but im following you now.
This week i got many shipments in, it was like christmas in July... :)
I got my weld-on and started assembling.
As you can see, the first attempt was not so great. There is some spatter of weld-on on the side, a streak from the reallingment of the riser, and some brown... (no clue where that comes from)
My second riser. Still a bit of movement, but no spatter, and its a lot cleaner looking than the first one.
I made a little template for placing the risers.
Which also allowed me to sand a square down before applying the riser without harming the surrounding areas.
The mobo side is done, and it looks great. The first one is the only riser that stands out a little tiny bit, but its the bottom of the case, and i might frost this side anyways, so im not terribly concerned about it.
The only think im concerned about is that two of the risers dont line up with their holes. They are only off by a fraction, but that is enough to create pure chaos.
Im thinking that since removing these blocks is out of the question, as is drilling and retapping, perhaps drilling of the mobo... *shudder*
I dont think that it really matters, but any recomendations are welcomed...
And a pretty picture of what the state of the project is. Not to many changes, fans are added, and the pieces are starting to fall together now.

    Duct tape.

Go with BSD instead. Much better for servers. not to mention, I find it's easier to use than linux.

Just remember to set your permissions. do an "addusr" and then create your user, edit the permissions file, add your username to the wheel group with a ,yourname directly after root on the first line and you should be set.

Gj men ! The heatsink need a bit more sanding, but hwo care !

For the MB nice way to fix it :)

For the de-anodising method, you put it in the bath for like 2 mins MAX!

It worked well on all aluminium part, I don't know for the rest

    Continu your good job
