Non-chargeable, no spares... updates in the morning I'm afraid.
Unless the corner store carries these obscure batteries.

I've spent as much on batteries as I have on my project. D**n Kodak and their weird packs. To save the batteries, I take them out if if I don't need the camera for several days. The internal clock needs reset but pbbbbt who cares about date stamps.

I found some batteries... I had a stash apparently (a stash of batteries, that is :worried:).
(Does anyone else here hide things on themselves and forget where?)

    Many pics...

First up, G.Skill 64GB SSD - there are THREE more of these babies coming to me as soon as NCIX gets it's **** together.

Molex Connectors galore. I plan on using my own wiring throughout so I need custom plugs - I'm not looking forward to wiring this Beast TBH.
    Internal 2x5pin USB header plugs:

    3pin fan plugs:

    6pin Molex plugs:

    8pin Molex plugs:

    24pin ATX Molex plugs:

A Bitspower "Q" fitting... that still isnt the right variety, I'll have to head over to Parker Fluidline to get what I want (I may have to make it myself):

Some cable clips, that will hold the GFX power lines parallel to the motherboard tray:

The clear tubing that will be used as "windows":

Four 6' black eSATA cables for my external drives:

A couple more bitspower fill stops:

    Some 4pin floppy plugs:

The hose clamps that I ordered before discovering Evil-98's clamps:

50 black rivits, because my local SB Simpson had none:

4 Sata Molex connectors, punch down style - 2kinds - terminated end, and open end:

Two AC Ryan "backies" or whatever they called them. Sata > eSATA backplane adaptor:

    4 Sata2 cables with 90degree ends:

Some 1" heatshrink, because I forgot to get some from CableOrganizer.com (probably for the best, because I don't need another 200' spool of the stuff)

And PINS! "Who knows how many... maybe a million... maybe more - nobody knows really" (slightly adapted Jeremy Clarkson circa Supercar Showdown... that tubo scene was funny):

*PHEW* that's a lot of stuff... and I GET TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER, jealous? I wouldn't be.. Hahaha.

That's all for today, I've been busy this evening fixing my Old Man's Laptop - and HP really really isn't bit on quick disassembly.

Thanks for reading, tune in this evening for some progress.

Try pressing Alt + Shift + Print Screen?
Turns high contrast mode on in Vista.

First thing I tried, thanks anyway. It was a faulty screen/connector, I swapped out the screen and soldered a new plug to the board. It works great now!

Great stuff and and great pictures. I love the background.
You guys know that I test software when I'm not retired, and now I'm glad I don't have to test hardware:

1500G shock resistance! How did they test that? 20G vibration?

    Thanks fellas!

    however...

    DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!

Does anyone have a trick for crimping molex pins for an idiot who forgot to order a crimping tool?

(I've just now ordered a crimper from PPCs, but that'll take a week+)

I believe a "duh" is in order. haha

Lol. That sucks... We've all been there however. Always some critical tool or part missing when we need it the most. Unfortunately there is no trick. Everything but crimper usage results in mutilation... :D

(Oh, BTW, since you've now got time on your hands, maybe you have time for my special inquiry. :thumb: Just kidding man, take your time.)

I just used needle nose pliers. I kept having trouble with my pins not going far enough into the connector, but I think that was because I soldered them wrong.

See if pliers can work well enough.

I didnt even know there was a crimping tool for the pins! lol

I tried all kinds of tiny pliers, ideally the pins curl around and stab the wire... I don't have pliers that can do that. I made some "it'll do for now" crimps, but I want it done right... there's no point in going this far and half-a**ing the WIRING.

Man, you keep on ordering more stuff :eyebrow: This is actually my first response in this topic, because I haven't been really impressed yet by the modding done. But I definately like the "I'll make my own parts and cabling" approach :)

@brinkz0r - I can understand that... the fun stuff hasn't started yet (or you haven't been reading the posts, lol). I'm certain you'll change your mind by the time it's finished. =)

Can you post pictures of you crimping the pins when you start doing it, (especially the SATA connectors)? I'm going to need to do my own wiring when I make my own case and you seem to have some experience. Also, somewhat related, is there a maximum length that the cables can be before the supply of power starts to degrade? It's just that I'll probably want to extend my 24 pin, and instead of getting one of those bulky cables, I could just replace all the wires with new ones so that the thing doesn't cut across my motherboard.

It's all looking good though Langer! You're an inspiration.

I'm trying to make a shorter 24 pin 4 inches long and you need a longer one! [IMG]
