I took a couple more shots today during the day-time.

But according to my Blackberry I don't have permission to copy the files to my desktop. I'm going to continue asking it politely... hopefully it becomes more forth giving with it's files soon.

I had to email them to myself 1by1.

I'm sorry for the crappy quality but I left my camera at home when I left to play in the shop for 3days.

I've completed cutting all of these parts:
    36"x 36" = 1mm 'Rigid' Aerospace Milspec Carbon
    *click for big ~3000px*
    [IMG]

I've already programmed and downloaded these to the machine, they will be cut next mon/tues:
    36"x 48" = 1.58mm 'Ultra Rigid' Aerospace Milspec Carbon
    *click for big ~3000px*
    [IMG]

And these will be cut shortly thereafter:
    48" x 48" = 2mm copper plate
    *click for big ~3000px*
    [IMG]

I'll upload the part pics tomorrow when the sun's out and I can get decent pics - CF doesn't photograph easily... sunshine helps a lot.

For now, I give you crappy cell phone pics and videos of the cutting in action. Believe it or not all these years and this is the first time I've actually taken advantage of a cell camera - you'll notice this inexperience in my sideways videos... lol.

First, here are some pics I took of the router a while back:

Outstanding Jesse! I need to convince the wife to sell one of our kids, and maybe I can get a CNC machine of my own... :D

My english ain't good enough for me to say how good this is.
I really cant wait to see it all put togheter.

Also I don't get it why would your Blackberry say you dont have permission to copy images you took with its camera.
(maybe cause this looks so beautiful the software wanted to keep it for itself)

Thanks a lot guys... just a quick off topic remark:
Jozo - did you know that Vader actually offers his own line of toasters?

Nice to know! Thanks for info, might get one!
I'm not a big fan but I like the free toaster oven offer.
I have one with Jesus and PS2 but I think it isn't appropriate.

The video isn't so bad. You do need more light, but methinks you had to work with what you had - and in that you covered the action well.

Now that I have buttered you up Langer I have a question ;) . Does it take special router bits to cut carbon fiber? What I am thinking is that we have several local shops with high-end CNC machines, but they mostly cut metals. What is the likelihood they would also be able to do carbon fiber?

Any bit will cut carbon but the lower grade the bits the quicker they will wear out. I'd say that carbon is even easier to work with than metals in a CNC application.
You don't need coolant - in fact it causes the resins and CF bits to gum up (sort of like cutting acrylic with a dremel).
You can move at a fairly quick pace (unless you're using a 1/16" cutter like me).
The principles are exactly the same at metal working - I can't imagine any shops having trouble with it.

Once caveat is the health concern - wear a mask and gloves or you'll be coughing and have itchy hands for a few days... like me right now because I'm hardcore and also too cool for that crap. :wallbash:

Here are some preliminary shots of the CF cutouts. I need to recut one of the panels below due to flaws but that's no big deal.
There are still a few pcs left waiting on the router - I forgot them at the shop.

I'll debur the edges over the next couple evenings to ensure a smooth finish.

Without further ado - some teaser shots to whet your pallets:

I love it! So incredibly awesome....

Is that the defect in the second picture on the left edge. Looks like the top layer of resin got messed up or something.

ill be honest, i thought this would be a mod where the modder would be overwhelmed,
in debt and loosing patience and have to give up...

but it seems your still loving it, producing great work, and somehow...still have money!

really awesome work, keep it up, i cant wait to see this finished.
