    hey bit,
Well I have been around for a while but havn't made a log. But now I am. I am tring to find as many uses for a psone screen as possible. So far I have made a small list, please add to it.
    1. Drop down IM.- It wil drop down from my ceiling to infront of my face if someone IM's.
    2. Portable IM.- I can take it into the living room with me (wired)
    3. Projector.- I push it into a slot and light bounces of it onto a mirror then through a lense and projects onto my wall.
4 Portable movie.- same as im except through vga.

My first thing I decided to do was the portable IM. So on with the pics.

Here a box came from Iamgoodyy
    [IMG]

Here was wat was in the box.

    And out of the box.

    Started wiring.

I got all the wires(30 feet in all, 15 composite, 15 vga) Composite for Im,vga for video.

    Testing!

Ahh, the circuled areas were wires that had split and were screwing with the screen.

I fixed them up and did another test.

I assume, then, that you are using the screen with Composite input instead of VGA? For most, this won't make any difference, but for text (your IM idea), it may make ALL the difference. Composite signal generally tends to have a hard time displaying small text clearly on small lcds, but then again, what looks acceptable is entirely up to you. Sweet ideas, though! Mod on, brotha!

EDIT: Just reread your post, I missed that line saying about the 30' of different cables. How are you planning on wiring them up independently of each other (the composite for text, VGA for video)?

The text is just barely legible, and I can read it almost perfectly (I have been practising) The cable is acualy 8 strands of 30. So its like alot bigger than I said, sorry but do you understande how I am wiring it now?

    UPDATE
After the last update, I tried to get the speakers working, unfortunutly I couldnt. So I just ripped them out so I can connect them up differently later.

I then got to work on the keyboard(cant IM without one).

    And the wires extended.

A moc of what I want.

Scince I wanted to be able to use the screen for more than one thing I made a special "hook" to hold it to the keyboard.

Thsi is how the "hook" works.

I hooked (pun intended) it all together and did a test.

Then I walked into my living room and started chating with a friend. (Sorry its choped but its so hard to get pictures of lcds)

Well thats all for now, next I will be working on the pop-down IM. Also technicly I finished the portable movie too.

Yea, I agree, the keyboard throws it all off, maybe purchase a smaller compact keyboard?

YA I dont realy like the keyboard either if my black on I am using right now (smaller/better/quiter) didnt have to be routed through holes through my desk to be connected I would use it, but I might paint it. Also the vga was hard but with power strip and bits guide I got it to work(took a while),remember every screen is different mine was way different. Oh and yep all wired.

Lets see the image without the photoshopped screen on it. I know its tough to get a good pic of an lcd screen, but photoshopping it on may make some think it doesn't work at all.

I do like that keyboard, but I kinda nead the number pad cause every mouse I try and extend the wires doesnt work so I am using the numberpad as one. I will however look into getting another keyboard, enysuggestions. Now a unphotoshoped image.

And this is my nice black keyboard

looks good but still has some work to be done, if i were you i would find a way to make it flip open so you can transport the keyboard and paint it black to match the keyboard. great work btw

It does flip down, if you look at the diagram you will see I made it so it would and could flip down for easy transport. And scince niether the white keyboard or black keyboard are what I am going to be using I dont want to paint it untill I know what color the new keybaord I am going to get is.

Really good. Original idea to mount the LCD in the keyboard.
All it needs is a nice finish.

I still have a PSone LCD imported from the US.
Followed a Dutch forum to make a small voltage regulator with a free Texas Engeneering sample. Alas proved my mere and poor solder skills not enough and after three weeks I broke the thing after resoldering a wrong wire :wallbash: input/output... (I really can't solder neat. But hey, the Iron dated from way back so...)
