i definately think the card swipe to turn on the computer is a great idea if you an figure out how to do it or find someone to do it for you/ explain it to you that would really make the case awesome

I found this article about a card-switch
It's not a complete scematic but you should be able to ask for more information on the site.
I also noticed that it uses +5V, which is the voltage to your mainbord when your pc is powered off.

hey if you do get a card made you have to changeit to somthing like "Sr. Genetic Encoder" or somthing offical like that, maybe "test subject C-13"

you could also make the card read one of the caracters from the game.

also, you don't need to make it inb a school, just find someone on the fourms that has a lathe and will make a doven endcaps out of aluminim.

and about the card switch, GO FOR IT

PS you could make a dozen or so cards, ranging from stars(RE3) to umbrela(RE2) to tyrant(??)

I Think I'll Just Get A Reader That Instead Of Swiping It You Flash The Card To It, Like There's A Chip Inside The Card And The Reader Reads It's Wavelength To Turn It On, Cuz I Already Have The Card, It's Made By A Company Called HID And It's The ProxCard II Series So All I Need Now Is To Find The Reader For It...Maybe I'll Steal It From The Gym I Used To Goto, Haha, Joking..

hmm cool... almost like mine.. but mine isnt gonna work that way its gonna be like a hotel door style but instead of a real magnetice strip its just gonna be a fake one and for the computer to be activated just slide it the card in making the card push a button to turn on the computer.

but i can always make it work with a real mag strip but i dont feel like programing any thing

 

well theres plenty of ways and methods to go about doing it obviously if you did the most complex, you'd receive alot of attention on these boards etc.. but if you wanna opt for nice and easy (not by clairol) lol i watch to much tv... you could have a fake magnetic reader inside the strip mount a microswitch once the card goes past it, it would knock the switch and turn the pc on voila easy peasy mod

 

Haha..Yeh Good Idea And All But Like I've Said, I'm A Perfectionist...Not With The Dremel Skils Or W/e, lol, But If I'm Making This, I Want It To Be Hard! A Challenge! That's What Modding Is All Aboot (Us Canadians Eh?). If It Was Easy It'd Just Be The Way. Overall, In The End, It's Gunna Be The Best I Can Do And Nothing Less! Good Idea Though, If Something Happens And I Can't Get The HID Prox Cardx Reader Then I'll Go With Some Of These Other Ideas. Until Then, They're In My Notes.

You should hide the sensor for the card in a drivebay, so you wouldn't know it's there except you could put the umbrela corp logo to the front of the bay

so you just swipe the card infromt of the bay and whola it turns on.
if you do do this and run it with windows, you should change the startup screen to the umbrela screen from the movie.

ps the guy that baught the RE props started a mod on this fourm
