thanks, I'm not going to do any further fibreglassing, at least not until this mod is finished, but I'll keep this in mind.

by the way, here's a little to-do list:
    • finish frame
    • create bottom/backplate
    • do a little test with putty-resin-mix
    • finish side panels
    • finish fibreglass-part
    • insert mobotray, hdd cage & dvd drives
    • attach side panels
    • electronics
    • paint it
    • brush the aluminium side panels
the italique things are going to be made tomorrow so stay tuned :)

    update time!

First I finished the frame - kind of. Here it's still lacking the nuts which had not arrived by then.

Then I traced a backplate layout onto a piece of alu...
    ...and cut it out
    [IMG]
this it what it looks like on the frame
    [IMG]
    and the psu fits :)

Being done with that one I started working on the windows for the left side panel.
I used cutting discs because I was afraid the jigsaw might destroy something.
Suddenly all my cutting discs were consumed - this is how the last one ended:
But just then someone rang the doorbell - mail came :)
    just in time!
Now I had the nuts I needed.
    And the cutting discs.
    ...without words...

Of course I had to file alot to finish the cuts...
    ... 1 hour later
    [IMG]

I tried brushing it using steel wool - I don't like the result. Anyway this is the inside, unless you take off the side panel it can't be seen. I'll have to find something better for the outside.

Well, that's where I am right now. What's next? I think I'll cut out a reXed from the right side panel. We'll see when I post the next update :p

    Hi

first of all: I still dunno whether I'm at the GCCM, I have no mail yet and although they still have 35 minutes I don't think there's anything coming.
Well, I won't loose all my hope until the list of participants is online :)

Not caring whether I'm choosen or not I continued working on the case.

This is the plexi on the left side - I'll have to do the same thing for the right side one day.

    finished with LEDs
    [IMG]
    light off, (some) LEDs on!

The right side will have the word reXed cut out and lighted.
    Go go Dremel!
Go go file! Go go sanding paper!

I started brushing the whole panel - that's a lot of work! I'll finish it later, now I'm going sleeping.

what who? who gccm? Games Convention Casemod Masters. In 3 weeks the Games Convention, one of the biggest video game exhibition, will be in Leipzig, Germany. On Saturday and Sunday the GCCM takes place, where 15 casemods and 15 scratch builds are rated by a jury and the best ones are choosen.
I don't think I'm going to be one of the best, there could e.g. also be Froop with his Block 4 mod which is imho much better than mine, but participation is everything. :)

    Here's another update for ya!

Well, I'm not making as much progress anymore, work now consists mostly of small things.

    What did I do?

I started to fix the imperfections on the front/top fibreglass.
I'll have to sand that down later, it's a mix of putty + resin, worked pretty well.

Here's a small video of the lighting: reXed video worklog 1

I later did the right side panel (except for the logo lighting, I screwed that up a bit so I sawed it out, I'll put another piece of plexi in there once it's done)

And I started to brush the left side panel, the right one's done by now.
