Another clue

More work has been done....
Just some minor work. The ethernet extension has been completed and some minor cable management.

Ethernet extension:
This was done with a premade 3ft leviton patch cable, a single port leviton quickport wallplate, and a leviton Cat5e quickport jack. First thing to do was

to cut down the wall plate and mount it inside the case. After that, the hole was cutout.

Next was to cut the cable to length and terminate it using a 110 punchdown tool.

Terminated in jack


Then the Jack was inserted into the wallplate

That is pretty much it for the ethernet extension.

Cable Management:

I did some more cutting to allow cables to go under the mobo adapters. this freed up some more room on one side to allow the VGA cable to pass under the

mobo also. this makes the cables look much nicer also.

Well this is all I can do until more parts arrive!

 

Well, at least it's not originally a computer case, otherwise you wouldn't have had to cut out small bits out of the bottom... I guess.

 

gonna have to say some sort of console, so like an atari or something.

was orig thinking a mastersystem, but that wasnt out til 1985/6.

so yes, ye olde console perhaps ?

 

Seems to me that the last atari I took apart didn't have anything that would have needed to be cut out...
Anyway, I saw someone do that mod to an Atari 800 (one of the computers) and that was a tight fit. Let alone one of the consoles.

[edit] I did some quick checking and found the Mattel Intellivision which was released in 1980. It looks to be a little more grey than black though...

Right as I read the monkey part the guys on the radio for an early messs around show yelled BS. I thought it was funny.

How about a vectrex? Age would be about right, height is close, it's black. My $0.02 worth. I had several they were cool vector graphics game consoles, but really had a tendency to overheat if they got dusty.

I dunno why im bothering because i was born just before 79 turned 80 but it looks soooo familure.

 

I think its a toy carrier, either the star wars darth vader one for action figures or something close to it.

small update!

Fan work has been completed.

The top fan blows out of the case. This should work best since heat rises. The bottom fan sucks the air in. To minimize dust getting in the case, cut some

some screen door screen and covered up the intakes of the fans with them.

I also got some help soldering the switches. I melted one and my friend Dwayne showed me the right way to do them.

I found this at Wal-Mart today. I plan to use it for audio!

The audio sounds better than that. I used my digicam to do the video.

One disaster so far. I wasted $30. I ordered a VGA extension cable, but it was too short. I will order another soon.

I had that exact same thing when I was 8, but mine was a piggy bank that when you put in a coin it completed a circuit and made him move and say stuff. It was awesome.
