jeebus! that's an awesome integration you've got there. And that zalman heatsink just looks MONSTROUS in the package you've got. Also, way to figure out how to use one of those 40x2 VFDs... you've just given me an interesting idea Maybe my chieftec rework will include one of those, vertically, on teh front.
Just Stealth it behind a piece of metal (same of the rest of the case)... that wouldnt void warranty.
Dude, thats SWEET! I think you should square off the edges of the TFT opening. It fits with the decor the way it is, but it looks like it wasnt well thought out cause you cant see the whole Screen. Dude, you dont want to mention the particular way you acquired you song collection
I was in quite a grumpy mood as I have a cold and a none working NF-7S that has to be RMA'ed back. Seeing that cheered me up. Very very well done Great job.
It looks great, did you pretty much just make a bigger laptop, and how did you set up the lapto screen for it?
i thought it was just a normal lcd display that he ripped apart but i could be wrong and you have to plug it in so it isnt a true laptop
You correct Fubar...it started out life as a Taxan 12.1" desktop display which I decased. It just happened to run on 12v, as do many TFT displays. So all I needed to do was to mount the internals on a piece of plexi and extend the VGA cable and add a power connector from the PSU. All you need to connect up at the rear of the machine is a keyboard/mouse, a short VGA cable which connects the mobo to the screen, a network cable and the power. So it is fully contained... Cheers, CC
yeah man it does look absolutely great... i remember seeing this awhile ago... never mentioned anything... a very ineresting style of a server case.... nice job
Damned nice Like Jedi said - stealth your drives! There are two articles on bit that would suit: here and here. Either one would work well, the first might be better though because It doesn't void your warranty, and You can make it match the barley-pressed theme If you use another sheet of that alu, try and get the pattern lined up exactly right - recess the drive a tad and it'll be invisible! On second thoughts, make a mark on it or something - it would be severely humiliating to bring in your new 'bling' server and then spend ten minutes searching for the optical drive!
This project turned out great! I watched it from nearly the beginning (I was under another name previously) and I have to say, this is awesome. Didn't you have a large, custom built tower with the same metal covering it? [edit] Nevermind, found it [/edit]
Hay man, the work that you have done on that set up is kick ass . How much did this hole thing cost you???
[n00b alert] I'm loving this tubing stuff. I've just been looking on the B&Q website, but I can't find it anywhere. Have they got a special name for it or something? I assume the tubing has some form of protection to prevent it from rusting? [/n00b alert]
Well it looks a lot like the old "Dexion Speedframe" but as they are no longer around you could try this
