This is a mod on an old coolermaster case (know idea what) that i had lying around. The name has come from the panels and the fact i am modding it for a LAN Party which is hosted at my church (Destiny Church).

    Why SHINY?

This is just a small update to explain why i have shiny in the name

I took a boring white case and am sanding the paint off

i remembered the before pictures but they didnt come out well so here is the after (will put before up 2morrow if i can get a good one will have to fiddle with settings)

    I took it from white

    to this

    then this

(that is water on the panel before any one asks)

that is using 240 grit then 400 will post more pics as the side panels progress but it takes ages have been working on that panel for a week now manually

there will be an update this weekend with the progress on the front panel :dremel:

Polishing a steel chassis? You are going to need to clear coat it at least. Last time I checked, Scotland wasn't a very dry place.:D

I once polished a steel chassis, after polishing it went to a bodyshop(?) to be clearcoated and after there were very small rust spots on it (only when looked close though), so dry your panels with great care or they`ll rust before reciving a clear coat.:thumb:

is that cd holder cover side gonna have enough strength when you do the bondo ing and sanding because they have a lot of flex don't they?

    Update 9 (18/02/2008)

Right as you know I have been on holiday so I have been modding but I have exams at the end of this month so I have been doing things that don’t take forever and things that can stop and start.

I have sanded down the bezel using the same tool I used on the side panels. This is the first of two types of fibreglass that I have been using David's Isopon P40 (the first one) and P38 (you will see this later).

The tools I used (Belt sander, sanding attachment on drill, clamp and normal sand paper)

    Before sanding
    [IMG]

    After Sanding
    [IMG]

There are loads of marks from air bubbles but that is what the P38 is for.

The first layer of P38 (it is sanded)

    Second layer
    [IMG]
I have created a small lip so I can sand in a nice round lip in to it.

I have put the switch panel together so you can see what it will look like
    [IMG]

In the spare drive bay cover I am thinking about inserting one of these
    [IMG]
    A small LCD temp sensor

    I have painted the chassis
    [IMG]

These white thumb screws will be replaced with black ones
    [IMG]

I have a small problem. The HDD tray won’t go in so I will beat it into place later.

    Questions and comments are welcome

Cool side panel design. It might be really difficult to cut, but I'm sure you'll pull it off.

    Liking the mod thus far.
