Hey Kylevdm - you have not fixed the foam but covered it with polystyren - it could look more nice if you would use wood, plsastyc or just scratch down rest of it. If you are thinking about quiet pc - place there acustic foam (pyramid shape or blob shape).

About aero tunell - use less putty at each time and place only neaded amount - less work after it will cure. If you're starting using putty there is a tip , when it cures you can gently make first moves and cut with razor blade from wallpaper knife first general shape of it.

    Keep on workin' :)

    Regards
    Tom

The foam is only there so it does not look patchy and I don't really care how load it is there is a ton of nosier PC's at the LANs

I have been using a knife to cut the paste once cured and it helps a lot but i really need to get a mouse sander

First off I want to say sorry for the long delay and word update but have not had a lot of time to mod.

But there is some good news! The bezel is being painted on Easter Monday if all goes well and the side panels are also being clear coated IF I get them finished next week (on holiday next week :p but still don’t think that it they will be finished as I left them in the shed and it rained LOADS so they have rusted so had to restart at 180 grit *doh*) all foam is off but sadly due to money constraints the side panel is not being laser cut :( but I have still manually cut out the box at the bottom as that has to be cut out because the old air vents where punched in so I could not sand them so I am in the process of filing the corners.

    Hello,

It is update time. I have spent the last few days at a chip and dent repair centre and I have been working on the bezel and side panels using air sanders, buffers and spray guns. I used a filler primer and then had to spray on a white base coat so the the final colour would show up. The colour I used the colour called Arancio Atlas Mic 2CT (Orange-Metallic) which is a Lamborghini colour as a base and lightened it with white until I found a colour that I liked. Then I lacquered it with a water based lacquer.

    The result was this.

While the paint was drying I sanded the panels with an air sander. Using 500 and then 2000 grit sand paper on the air sander then used the 'Wheel Doctor' to buff the panels to a mirror shine but there was marks from the buffer. Once finished buffing with the 'Wheel Doctor' I used polishing paste and buffed the marks out by hand. I still need to wax the panels as the lacquer just ran off.

    The result.

    Today I assembled the case.

There is still loads of touch up work to do
*paint volume switch on DVD drive
    *finished fan controller
    *touch up paint on chassis
    *put in mesh
    *get fans
and of course the small task of installing the system :p

    Questions and comments welcome

    thanks

    Hey all,
I finally found my camera cable, so here is the week late update....
First off I got the spinner for the fan from the local RC plane shop. It is slightly bigger than the fan but there were not any smaller ones that I liked so I made do. I used the wonders of super glue to stick the spinner to the fan blades. I then clamped them together. Unfortunately, super glue sets in 20 seconds and me being as stupid as I am I dropped the clamp which made the spinner go skew so now it oscillates. This actually looks cool!

I then painted the fan with high gloss plastikote which is not very glossy but meh.

With the fan reassembled I connected them up to a psu which I jumped with a paperclip.

I did this to see whether I would have to use one or two ccfls and one is fine with the two led fans.

I assembled the hardware or the crappy AMD I had lying around.

Here so images off the case assembled.

I am currently having some problems with one of the drive bays going in...

I love the way the blue LEDs set off the gold paint, it looks perfect.

@ your little problem: Is there enough material on the face plate that you can dremel out a relief for the screw head to fit into? Just a thought, I'm not sure how much room you have from the edge of the case to go that route. Hope I helped a bit, good luck!

Just to let you all know, this project is not dead. I have had to go back to the drawing board as the panels are only rusting in certain places (where I touch them putting them on). So either I am going to polish them up again and put them on with gloves :p or I am going paint them and wet sand to 2000 grit and them polish them giving the impression of polished metal. I am probably going with the latter following Bill Owens tutorial (tutorial)

Sorry for the late reply, the project got lost on the forums, or I couldn't find it any way. Anyway thanks, freak. I have decided to spray the panels with black enamel which I will sand to a mirror finish (and I thought I was done with sanding lol). So I will update you when I get home in two weeks.

    Hey,

I have finally found the primer and paint to get this project finished.

Primed with U-POL 1K Etch primer
    [IMG]

And sprayed with 4 coats of Enamel Gloss Black
    [IMG]
all that dust is off the carpet it is not stuck in the paint

I now just have to fix the hardware ... and finish the panels with wet and dry in 2 weeks and then wax 30 days after that. So updates in 2ish weeks time

    Hey

I have some good news and some bad news

The good news first, I have got a new system for Shiny Destiny (an AMD x2 4800+) I got it to boot up finally. I am going to be getting some more shiny bits for this case with some MNPCTECH goodies (Turbine Fan and BILLET MACHINED ALUMINUM CASE FEET).

The bad news is I can not say it is finished as it is not but it is really nearly done lol.
