Silence Of The Fans I just want to say that this site rocks!, I been wanting to get my hands dirty and make a cool case for my micro ATX mobo. This is going to be one of 3 computer that I am going to build. This computer is just going to be a media station I am building Hannibal a 1000GB storage server and Red Dragon a Xtreme Game Station. here are the specs: Intel Pentium 3 1.0 GHZ PCCHIPS M773MR+ Micro-ATX 512 MB RAM 133MHZ 40 GB 2.5" Hard drive CD-RW/DVD Slim Drive Creative DVD Remote I am going for a clean-high tech look the high of the case is going to be 1.5" the dimentions H 1.5" L 7.5" W 9.5"
moddin the Heatsink The heatsink is 1/2" taller that the highest point in the mobo so we have to cut 1/2 off of the heatsink. Now the heatsink is 1" tall with the fan. Since all of you know how to cut aluminum I will not go into the process. after I cut the top of the heat sink I mount the fan using afew drops of glue of the four conners of the fan. I put some thermal grease and connect every thing and turn on the pc the temperature sits at a 46C at full load . so no over heating problems even in a 90F weather. I will upload pictures tomorrow for some reason my camera only knows one word ERROR.
just a sketch like I think I want to build it but then again we all change the design along the way . On the left we have the power button the the power led and the HDD led then we have a volume control(the gray round thingy. we have a small maybe a 2x??? LCD. then we have a connection for earphones and the gray round things are where the IR detectors are going to be one for the wireless keyboard & mouse and one for the remote control. simple yet elengant let me know what you guys think on the arrangement or do I need to add something or remove. by the way the cd-drive opens from the lef side, the ram was in the way otherwise I would have put it ontop of the LCD.
i have an idea. how about making thing a wee bit taller and putting hdd and dvd in very bottom, under the mobo?
It does seem it would be easier if you just made the case a little bigger. try fitting things in using SketchUp. (see my sig)
I might go to 2" inches but it seems a bit too high. but I would be able to fit a Radio reciver (usb FM)
I have very bad luck my logitech Z-680 speaker amplifier unit whent up in smoke, since I only had one year of warranty and that year already pass I am stuck with it but the I saw that it had some cool heatsinks that I am going to use for my case.
pics dont work for me. Sorry to hear about your Z680s, they do have a nice heatsink unit on the amp though
Got My CPU I got my Pentium 3 1GHZ cpu On the mail today. I order the Slimline converter for my CDRW-DVD Drive. After that I am going to start building the case from Sheetmetal and Lexan.
Hmm, the only pics i see are those in your last post. I dont even see red x'es were the other photos should be...
