    Looking good!

Out of interest, how does the noise of the Corsair RAM cooler compare with the Noctuas?

they are on a fan controller but the RAM cooler is way loud on normal speed and on low pretty much silent but doesn't push much air at all. All in all pretty bad compared to the Noctuas. Maybe once in my hopefully 100% silent case I can crank it so it dose its job without annoying the neighbors. :grr:

The internal will slide out without the need to unplug anything but you will need to wait for me to start the internals before you know what I'm on about.

Thanks for the info. I picked up a Zalman cooler second hand which was also noisy - a bit rattly is the best way to describe it, it ended up in the drawer and the RAM left to cool itself.

Good luck with the build :)

Today I'm getting a propane torch, 6m of right angle alloy, m3 tap, m5 tap and various bolts. Pics up when I get home!

    Looking sweet mate :thumb:.
Earlier in the thread I was shocked at how thick the aluminium looked, must have been because of a zoom picture lol, thought it was about 10mm thick :D.
Brilliant idea for bending the 3mm material, I've always had the mind set of if it's 1.5mm or more then I can't bend accurately.

This is very abstract, taking shape well. What font are you using on your pictures?

My dad bought some of that stuff from a motorbike show a while ago, had an example weld & was an ultra strong fix, only way to seperate the pieces whould be to cut them off ;) but I bought the wrong gas to use it so wasn't getting hot enough for it to melt, should give it another try sometime, been wanting to get into aluminium welding for some time now.

Looking excellent btw & good prototyping :).

what gas were you using? I have propane but not sure if it will get the area hot enough cos the entire case acts like a heat sync.

Honestly I really can't remember, but I do remember when buying the gas there was 3 levels of heat & I chose the medium & had big trouble heating it up enough when I should have chose freaky hot lol, sorry for not remembering the gas type name.

Mapp gas is hotter than propane. Maybe that's what Waynio is referring to.

Nice project. It reminds me a little of Osidias by Craigbru.

Yea I know. I saw Osidias a while back and thought the core of it was very similar to my concept sketches from way back. I'm glad his outer shell will make the finished case very different to mine. :)

A little update showing things to come. I sanded 1 small part to make sure the deeper scratches would come out, the alloy had been sitting in an aircraft hanger for some time.
