That's the idea, as far as I understand... Would make a pretty cool case though. Except for the round front part. Not sure what could be done with that. I've never seen an oscilloscope with a round screen before as well, all I've seen have a square/rectangle screen.
How about having the original knobs and switches hard wired to your pc to control winamp or windows media player?
the round crt holder on the inside of the case dates this as about 30 years or so old, early crt's were in fact round (as were the very early tv sets), the mfr of antiheros case tried to look a bit more advanced for the era by having the round crt hidden so it looked rectangular externally. I have a tektronix type 545B oscilloscope (circa 1961/1965 and valve technology) with the exterior screen being round, the case is twice+ the size of your case so it's a bit large for a casemod. can't wait to see how it all turns out. i'd suggest having drives mounted on the side, then you can do more with the switches etc on the front.
i dont got any of the original knobs and buttons as the case was completly empty when i got it. i am not shure about the color theme of the case yet, but maybe just silver or black. about putting the drive in the side. i gonne use a slimline drive so that dosnt take so much space on the front.
I say leve the case the original color and buy some knobs and butons to fill the holes and posibly a fiew front ports where the old holes used to be. Then hard wire them to control software and have a media center kind of control on it.
i second that vote being a sucker for original features myself. there must be some bits and pieces you can either scavenge or buy that brings the facia back to its original glory
here is a small update. sorry for the slow procrase, my dremel seems to think its funny to die on me in the middle of a project. i still gonne push him until he dies. now some pics. here is the motherboard i gonne use for the mod. its a Epox 8rgm2i micro ATX. i have the motherboard tray now ready. there is only the slot and I/O cutout left, but i cant start with that before my friend rips his case apart and i get the plate. As you can see, iam going for some sort of sandwich construction as the case is pretty small,so most of the parts are gonne get placed over each other and its still pretty tight in there. antiHero
Hmm, actually roomier than I though. You should be able to fit everything quite nicely shouldn't you?
erik: i would like to go for watercooling if i can manage it with the space. would be much better as there is not much room between the the psu and the cpu. on the otherhand fitting a rad, pump and res in there is a bit of a task.
Sounds interesting, will check this thread often to see the progress. So far you did a real nice job!! I like the case very much and has great watercooling potentials as far as I can see it.
i got a) a fu%&ed up camera. b) a fu%&ed up camera c) a fu%&ed up dremel. i am really sorry i do the best what i can to give you guys good pics and fast updates.
I can only see 3 possible uses for the round window: Put an OLED or FVD behind it Make a static image of a sinus curve and backlight it use it for a blow-hole
There is a fourth option that I can think of, it would look awesome with one of those plasma (lightning) balls, that are just a flat plate of glass, so the 'lightning' shoots from the centre to the outside, but it is all in a very thin, round device.
a little update for those who are interrested. the project is on halt as my dremel died on me last weekend. the 5mm alu backplate was to much for him. so no progress untill i get me a new one and thats not before i get my paycheck.
