Today I've primed the 2 side panels and the top and applied the first coat of paint. Skull side primed Top primed I did two coats of primer and between coats did some wet sanding with 400 grit. Skull side first coat black gloss enamel Top first coat paint My paint room. Now have to wait 3 days to let the paint to dry hard then will wet sand 600 grit and apply a second coat of paint. I'm using this mod how-to for the paint job. linear1 case mods Hope that my paint job will turn as good. Thank you for your interest.
Damn, those are some killer cutouts! Insane dremeskills in deed. Keep it up Could you maybe go a little in-depth in how you cut out that scull? That would've been nice to know
Here is how I started my skull cut-out. Printed out the skull on 4 sheets of paper with the poster option of the printer. Taped the 4 sheets together cutted the skull on the paper with a razor blade. Once that completed I traced it out on the panel. Now for the dremel cut I took my time. I've used little pressure on the dremel, and did not go all the way throught the metal like you would with a saw of the like. I then deburred the edge with a Tungsten Carbide Cutter , a file and finished it with sand paper. And for some sharp egde used a hack saw on a small handel.
Hi. Did some work on the front panel yesterday and here are the results Front mesh will replace the 2 40mm fan duct and LCD. The mesh was cutted with th dremel and to be able to bend the mesh did a cut about 1/3 in the mesh. Painted mesh and clear coat The mesh will be fixed on the front panel with rivets in the inside of mesh. Rivets are not punched in since the front panel is not yet painted. Thanks for your comment's.
wow thats awesome i never knew that reinfoced cutoff disk could do that kind of cutting, last time i tried cutting some wood with it and i sort of... "burned" the wood with all the friction lol... keep up the good work P.S. the Mods should change your lable right away.. "whats a dremel?" my ass
Quality dremeling and painting. I am impressed with how you are turning a bog-standard, fugly PC case into a real quality mod. This is what modding is all about.
First coat of paint dried and hardened time to wet sand 600 grit. And after a few hours of sanding here are my results of the second coat of paint. Looks pretty fresh doesn't it. I think I have done a pretty good job on this. Now have to wait 2 to 3 days before wet sanding again and after applying the clear coat. And if anyone knows any tricks of how-to's for applying bondo because i'm having some trouble with the front case. Can't get it to a complete flatness.
Looking great so far Are you sure the LCD will work well with that mesh? It looks like the pixels may get blocked out, unless you plan on cutting out a section for it. As for the painting, spectacular work, mate
The mesh will be cutted out. I'm still planning this out as to putting my current 4x20 LCD or this 5" LCD screen for a xbox I have not received it yet just got my hand on it on eBay. This was less expensive than the one ment for the PS One 30$ CAD. Here is the description for this screen. Verge Travel Screen (C10907A) - High-resolution TFT Active Matrix Technology eliminates “ghosting” effects and fuzzy images common in non-TFT monitors. - High-speed signal refresh rate optimized for playing fast-action games. - Simulated surround sound environment for a vivid audio experience. - The mounting bracket connects to your Xbox easily and securely. - An on-screen display lets you adjust the volume and brightness. - The screen folds down flat for easy storage and toting. - Two headphone jacks provide quiet listening. - Perfect as a monitor for any other video device. So when I received it the mesh will be cutted out for the screen dimension. Thanks
Sweet LCD man! I think it will look cool in the mesh given that you have sufficient support behind it. Maybe if you attached the mesh to a piece of clear (or colored) plexiglass and that would give it a little more regidity to mount the LCD to. Just a thought. And as for the bondo cracks... I've never worked with bondo, but it looks like you just needed to add a little more and sand it better. Good luck!
I made this plexi and painted black on the back but I will do another but fully black since this one was for the 4x20 lcd. The plex is riveted on the case will do the same with the other one.
Got some work done on the paint job and the front lcd. I've sanded the second paint coat with 600 grit. Applied the cleat coat here the results. I've tested the LCD before getting some work done on it. And here is the LCD mounted on front. Next update will be the final on side panels as well as the top. Will wet sand the clear coat and apply the compound. Update will come in 2 or days to let the clear coat dry.
You could try something like this Filler Primer (AKA Spray Putty). I haven't used this particular brand. But this stuff is awesome for filling the fine lines around bondo and joints etc. Have a look at some of DÈF¥âÑt¸.·´¯`¤s work. After all he is the Master. BTW, that's some seriously good dremmel work you've got goin' there Keep up the good work
I've completed the wet sanding of the top and skull side here are some cliché of my work. When applying the compound I was becoming more and more excited. And another shot Tomorrow I'll post some pics of my front case. Thanks for your comments
Hi, Looking great so far. Very impressed with the dremel work. The red chassis will look really good through the skull cut out. Regards BenJ
Hi all I've installed the plexi on the skull side and glued on the eye. I also primed the front case. Here are a few shots. This is the top of the case. Here you can see the front case primed will paint it tomorrow. Don't be shy post your comments. Thanks
Hi all This is the final for the paint job on my case mod. Hope you all appriciate my paint job. Front clear coated Front clear coat sanded Top. This is a red anodize paint from Dupli-Color consist of a base coat and color coat. Leg. Same paint as above Front SKULL fan duct Front SKULL Front Case Right side Left side Skull. Here you can see my camera taped on the lamp pole for better pics. Next thing that I have in mind to do is cable management, self made fan rheobus, new dvd drive eject button as well as power button and a top light array that will point to the sealing batman style but with a SKULL and it will be made of red leds. Updates will come slowly in future since that I'm currently moving. I will be checking your comments, suggestion or answering your questions. Thanks
Nice mod man real show of workmanship just wondering the front fan looks like an 80 mm maybe if you got a bigger 120mm fan to replace that one so that the blades take up that whole entire hole. It looks great just I don't know that fan seems a little small for that nice big blowhole in the front.
