I am glad you guys are still enthused with the project and are "marking-time" for the next update..
Which will be in 20 Hours..
    Howa-bout a preview (aka: mini-update)..
    More Green paint:
MotherBoard mounting hardware and a pair of G1/4" plugs for the EkWaterBlock..
scifi- noticed these plugs needed to be green..
and now they are..thanks scifi.. :thumb: great idea..
I also need to say that I am disappointed that this machine has been voted-down to a 4-star project..
    I don't think I can "try-harder-do-better"...
I guess "good" is the best I can do..
    Sorry..

Well i looked back because i was SURE those plugs should have stayed shiny, i was wrong, they are gonna look great in green, top-notch idea (scifi) and MS for taking it!! I do think that if they ahd UV paint that is what you should be using then a few UV laser LED's and all the bolts in that thing would light right up, but i have read in the past you want it subtle, so subtle it is, i am sure they will look sweet through the UV-Green acrlic though. Keep it up, I think its top- notch MS!!

Why would that be banned for real? hey if you vote less than 5 make you own log and entitle it why I think SG deserves a 4 start or less.

ok, instead of spamming the board with why i think it deserves a 4 star or less ill just say it

    1) constant wanking over aquacomputer gear (modsquad/firehed/topnurse) about 7 pages of this log are spammed with advertising for theyre crap.

    2) slow ass ****ing work - im sorry, but id prefer to just see larger updates, instead of, oww look i just painted some screws and calling that an update, it really isnt.

    3) being a gigantic emo kid when your project gets knocked down to 4, omfg, you think your the best modder in the whole world, some people may not like your case, its theyre choice to put it at whatever they think, they shouldnt need to justify themselves. Plus blatently being like waaa owwits been knocked down im going to go cry because im not good enough is blatently just asking people to give it a 5 for sympathy, im sorry, but its not all about the RATING you get, its about the actual mod.

    4) you take so damn long to do stuff, and then wonder why the hardware going in it is going to be out-dated, you could easily keep the pc running while modding.

OK guys, keep it civil in here. If you have nothing constructive to say then I suggest you keep quiet.

Frodo, that post was a bit uncalled for, if you don't like how a thread is panning out report it to us via the "report Bad Post" button and let us mods/staff deal with it.

its not that i dont like the project, its just he expects everyone to love him,a nd then acts like a gigantic emo kid when they dont. (not that ive got anything against emo's...)

all my comments are my reply to hydro_electric_655 who said we should say why we dont think its worthy of 5 stars... i was just posting saying WHY i dont think its worthy of 5 stars

attention to detail this project is awesome, but it isnt interesting seeing someone take some screws, paint them, and put them back on a block... it would of been ebtter just to be like "this is the block before" "this is the block after" sort of thing, not this is the block, this is the screws, this is the screws painted, this is the block after... and then calling that a big update :S

your version of a big update is doing 1 thing, it kind of gets your hopes up, but then at the end of the day it just leaves you thinking err wtf? wheres the rest...

leaving other people to do stuff generally leaves ya know where... if you want to say something, dont ask someone else to say it, just say it.

Anyways to get back on topic...
I like all the small details going into this case. Painting all the screw heads and bolts green really adds to the mod so keep up the good work.

What is a project log? Is it a collection of large updates every other week, or is it a nightly update of small events?
I think a log should be progress as it happens, if all you have time to do one day is paint bolts, then why wait till the end of the week to show it?
Also, discussion in a log is cool.

Anyways, i got distracted... Good job MS thanks for the props :)

In some respects frodo is right. I too think that people go nuts over AC gear when they should be looking at the mod and what the modder is doing. I also agree that some modders tend to use their gear to support their mods and shift the focus to their expensive stuff rather than haveing any substance in their mod.

With that said I think that modsquad is a truely awesome modder. Sometimes, yes he drifts to the showing off side but honestly who wouldn't with all the cool stuff he has. He is an awesome painter and the airbrushing he has done is absolutely sick. Yes it can be tedious viewing a simple update where he paints a few screws and calls it good but that's the stage he's at. He's finished all of the meaty "cutting up the case" updates and now he's onto the "glitter" part where he accents bit's and pieces and changes things around untill his mod is exactly the way HE wants it. To me that is what a mod is, makeing YOUR computer better suited to YOU.

p.s. The ranking system is effed up anyways. 4 stars should mean a good mod and 5 stars should mean OMFG WTF THAT'S CRAZY!!! but instead 5 stars means anywhere from good to O.R.A.C . People just dont think about it when they're rateing things.

    @Frodo:
Just read your osirus worklog and is sucks in comparison to this. You shouldnt bash people who are better than you.

My $0.02: If you want to see better, do better.
And if you can't handle criticism or face the inevitable reality that there will always be someone out there who is better than you, don't bother sharing your work with others.

This isn't a popularity contest. It's a learning process that benefits both the creator and the spectators, provided that both parties can keep their discussions constructive.

    MB tray mod

First off let me comment on Frodo's remarks, than I will move on..
Emotional, yes..I have spent about 600 man-hours of work on this project. Most likely, more than all 6 of the machines you built combined. It's my baby..I understand not everyone likes the same thing when it comes to the "look" of a computer, and I can accept constructive criticism no problem. BUT what you offered up seems more like what you don't like about me not what you don't like about the project..correct..So, to say any project is an "" star project because so-and-so built it seems wrong, but your entitled to your opinion. With perhaps 500 project log's curently underway on bit-tech would it not be more fun for you to post on one that you enjoy instead of a project you dislike? I have looked at PL's and said to myself "this is not very good", but I did not feel it necessary to tell the person..But, that's just me..You do what you need to do frodo..
My version of an update is the work I finished that week..If you took the time to read my last post it said the update was coming in 20 hours..Painting those bolts was not my update..
Talking about Aqua-computer gear. I don't see the harm in posting pictures of new h20-cooling gear in a project log. I am not selling anything or trying to. I honestly don't think its 7-pages worth, but even if that was the case it would be 7 pages out of 53 in this log.
Larger updates, my updates always include 10-15 pictures..This PL has 600 pictures. Would it be better to not update for a month and then have one big-update? Perhaps, but I don't think so..
Slow, yes that is a fact. The update (which will follow in a minute) represents about 8-hours of work at my "slow-ass" pace..

OK on to the update: I feel pensive, but here-goes:
My plan for the case is to use all stock wiring (molex) but keep as much of it as possible out of sight. Using stock wiring makes things much Ezer down the road should any problems pop-up.
All the Hiper PSU's wiring (with the exception of the ATX) will be routed to the backside of the mb tray through the oval hole at the top of the case.
Once the wiring is there, it will need to make its way back-out to the MB.
So we have cut outs for
    AXT12v
    SATA HD
power on and reset switches and USB
    PCI express power
    IDE for the DVD drive
    SPDIF for the soundcard
a cut to get the Hiper's wiring down to the backside of the MB tray
and a cut for a 5-led unit that will be under the motherboard.
Then cutting/drilling/cleaning and a few coats of paint.

notice the ribbon IDE cable, that is what I will use for the DVd drive. It is actually in a picture from the last update
    [IMG]
it makes it's way back into the 5.25" bay-box then out and under the MB. If memory serves, it was Firehed who I first saw use this ribbon cable method. It works very well, so the credit goes to him..I just did what modders do..See something you like, and use--it.. :thumb:
next attach the Hiper's modular cables
    [IMG]
I know I measured this before I recessed the PSU, but it looks very tight for the innovatek reservoir..
    lets check
    [IMG]
It fits just fine. A true "tight-fit"..
Now the start of what will become a snake-pit of wiring..
    Should work though..
This is the last of the case-mods for this project. I need to finish the mesh cover for the 3.5" baybox and tweak the DVD drives front acrylic plate. After that the H20-loop. Wiring will be up after that.
I did mess with the LED lighting for under the MB.
a Logisys 5-led unit with the top of the led housing removed to fit between MB and MB tray.

that is it for this "slow-ass" modder.. :hehe:

The way I look at it is that it is totally unneccesary to create a log other than to help other people get an idea of whats possible to do mor eor less easily. If modsquad haddn't been putting up these updates over the 1-2 years? I would say he could use that time and probably finished by now. So if you are basing the mod off anything other than what mister. "slow-ass modder" aka modsquad, then you really aren't supporting the case. As for if you dislike the case, I would suggest that you use the age old expression to hold your tongue. (If you haven't got anything nice to say don't say anything)
