Hey Xeno, sweet looking case you got there.

Just a little question about the Sharkoon cathodes from FH. Do they come included with a molex connector, so you can plug it straight into the PSU?

I see you're from NL, just like me :). They include a splitter so you still got the same amount off connectors, a switch and an inverter (and afcourse the cathode itself).
    Her's a link to it.

Hey guys, it's been a while. I couldn't get my hands on a digi-camera and got no cash for it right now. I've been modding quiet some hours last week. I got no foto's though. :( Tomorrow I will. :naughty:.
I only can say: It cost me some time, but I think it's worth it so far. :hehe:.

    Next update: tomorrow.

    ***UPDATE !!!***

Hey guys, I finaly got an update :hehe:.
I've been doin much modding and today I did lot of things.

If you wanna mod, ya always gotta check the sky...so I did!

    I bought several new things:
    - Aluminium pipe, diameter is 10mm
    - Aluminium strip
    - Epoxy stick (kinda bondo)
    - 5meter roll of 80-grid sandpaper
    [IMG]

I also got these new, gonna use them as feet.

    And here's my 1m x 1m acryl:

I needed some "old" cloths to wear, but got none. So I went to buy a nice white shirt (since it's "hot" outside :hehe:). Let it be my modding-shirt...so i modded my t-shirt :cooldude: ...well.....kinda.....

Now let's go back to work! Here are some random pics:

I'm working here, watch it! :hehe:

Painted the left-sidepanel and the top. After 2 primes and 1 spray it still looks bad. :waah:

My naked case, did some modification there.

My new idea; using wood to hide stuff and make a good blowhole!

Used to Epoxy stick to fill some ugly spots and holes.

This is the top of the frontpanel, I'm going to place 2 red leds in those little alumiunm pipes. There are 3 blue leds comming in the big hole, with acrylic in the front.

Last but not least: my workplace. Here i'm getting part of my ideas. I don't cut here, I used to though. But I like to do it outside since the wheater is nice!

Any comments? Gimme some ideas / suggestion.

You know it? Cool! I actually bought it in Poland, when I was on a schooltrip. It works on every material and is cost like 3 euro over there. :hehe:

Uhmm....yeah I am going to put a red led in every single one. A 5mm ultra-bright.

I think that's it! :D lol! I actually walked in a do-it-yourself-store and those were lieing there...yelling at me! So I just had to take them!
:hehe: But i think they are "skates".

    Next update: tomorrow!

    w00t! 3 euros !?
damn, that's cheap as hell. less then half the price i have to pay where i live..
but as poland became a member of EU it might get cheaper for me or
perhaps more expensive for you. we'll just have to wait and see :]

You want some tips on the panels, you're not gonna like it but, here they are. First, sand it all down to the metal again. (told ya you wouldn't like it) :wallbash: Sand with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and get that baby smoooooth as you can (be sure to have a tub of fairly hot soapy water close to clean out your sandpaper, trust me it will save you a ton of sandpaper if you opt for wet/dry and take care of it). -optional- sand with 600 grit wet/dry if you want smoother, but if it's too smooth the primer might not stick, so it's your call, I only went to 400 with my case. Prime. See those bumps all over? That's called orange peel. Sand it back down with 600 grit wet/dry, if the metal shows, don't worry just sand it good so there's no orange peel, then re-prime and sand again. Now paint with any kind of spray paint. Sand with 600, 1000, 1500, 2000 wet/dry, and finally use some rubbing compound to get it super smooth. Clean with denatured alcohol (or wash it really really good with hot water and mild dish soap) You most likely went through to the primer, that's ok. Paint and repeat! Once you've gotten the paint smooth. Get some polish (I used meguiars #7 car show glaze) I used 5, that's right 5, coats of polish to get it really shinny, it's literally like a mirror. I waxed mine with the recommended #26 yellow/caranuba wax, also from meguiars. :jawdrop: I know that is a lot of work, but if I had a digital camera I'd take some pictures of my case and you would be able to see the camera and me as if you were looking at me through some slightly fogged perspex! And a dremel guy for added effects (and cause I like him) :dremel: You're case should now look like a brand new *insert favorite car* Enjoy!

I did get these tips from a web site and have added a few things based on my experience, but I don't remember where, if anyone knows feel free to post it as I'm sure I've left out something :duh:

:jawdrop: That's a really long list....but: I'm 18 years and not dieing; so plenty of time. :D The thing is, my case was smooth until I used the 1st prime, I hate painting without spraying. :sigh: But i'm just going to try all your suggestions and let's hope it will looks like my *insert favorite car*. Thanx for the help and enjoy these frums! (Since i see this is your 1st post. :naughty: )

Are you using a paint brush or spray paint primer?!?!?! If brush, I feel sorry for you, but you might try a foam brush to make it go on smoother... But if possible buy a spray kind (one can did the top and both side of my case) Thanks for the welcome to the forums. Good luck on your mod, looks great so far :dremel: (dremel props!)

I live in the US so I don't know about conversion rates but it's around $4.00 a can. You can probably get it at any hardware store that sells spray paints. The brand I used was Rust-Oleum, but brands don't really matter, it's all that sanding. And spray is just easier, you can do it with a brush, but I'd hate to...

    He Xeno,

I live in the Netherlands too and you can buy some nice primers at Praxis. You could also give a car shop like Halfords or Brezan a try. They should have special primers used on cars, wich are nice and should stick to metal very good. Remember: better to use 2 thin layers then to spray too much on it at once!!

    Goodluck modding!!

Hey, those primes you buy at Halfords, is it a can? Because I don't like to use the brush, I hate it! And I know all about layers. Sprayed a car once...used like 9 layers. :hehe: I bought the Epoxy Sticka t "Formido" :hehe: Here in Rotterdam I got every single store I need.

Gamma kicks ass! They don't got any bondo though, just like Halfords.:sigh: :cooldude: But they're still friends. :D

Tomorrow I'm going back to Halfords and just ask for a can of primer. I hope they will have it. :worried:

Thanx for the advices, I'll manage to get it I think. I ordered some new stuff fomr a store and 20 leds from ebay, and hoping to get it tomorrow so I can see what it does to my case. Cheers!

I've been looking at other threads, I saw several times they've been using blank paint. Does this make your case shiny? I is the only way to get it shiny by using polish?
