    Nice job on the sleeving so far Wayne. Looks very nice. Keep up the good work.

    Not trying to get off on a rabbit trail in Wayne's thread, but there are a few points on my mind here. First, I don't know exactly where Nils gets his sleeving from, but I've bought triple weave sleeving from Ebay for way less than what Nils sells it for and its every bit the quality of what he sells. I seriously would be surprised if the sleeving he sells isn't made in China. It seems like everything is these days.

    Second, the modsmart cables aren't cheap crap. They really look decent. I bought them off of a recommendation on another forum, and I'm pleasantly surprised.

    Third, imho, not re-sleeving a PSU is not a sign on not being a perfectionist. I've resleeved and custom cut PSU wires before, and to me, it simply isn't worth the time and effort. I'd rather design into a case a neat way to simply hide away any excess wiring out of sight. The end result looks just as good.

    Fourth, I have yet to really understand our current obsession with individually sleeving every wire. We take a small bundle of skinny wires, sleeve every single wire, and increase the overall bulk x5. Also, somehow a good sleeving job has to mean that not one single little itty bit of wiring is visible. I'm not sure how this standard got set, but to me it doesn't make a lot of sense. Sleeving came about in the first place to reduce the bulk of wiring by neatly holding it together, not merely as a way to hide the wires.

    Sorry for the thread highjack Wayne. :nono:

    Thanks voigts I agree it's a frustrating waste of time & effort for the majority of the sleeving & increases the bulk like you said :lol: but I have ideas for making it so it doesn't bulk up too much, time & effort I'd much sooner put into the actual building & the crazy thing is the most worthy & easy sleeving out of all this I'd say is the sata power sleeving, something I'd definitely continue to do when using a few or more hdd's, but anyway I had to try it out to find for myself the pros & cons, so far so good & when it all comes together I'll know for sure :thumb:, no worrys voigts I totally understand how it irritates people :hehe: but like said I felt I had to try it out after seeing nearly everyone else doing it :lol:.

    :hehe: :blush: Cheers Bill :thumb:, looks better than sleeving :D.

    :blush::D Cheers 23RO_UK :thumb:.

    Wow that was a needed change of modding :D.

    I found the sata power pass through holes weren't quite big enough so had to make them bigger, also not pictured here I added 2 10mm countersunk pass through holes for fans close to the corner & also made a mount for an ssd aligned to do another sata power cable that powers the ssd & optical, the cable for that will be extremely short :D, still need to mod the angle & square bar in the bottom to allow fan cables to go underneath the hdd cages.

    The ssd mount is just a small piece of 10mm flat bar that mounts the ssd & a 20mm flat bar that connects to the 10mm one & screws into the panel by 1 bolt, nice & simple :).

    Also made the mobo panel power pass through holes bigger since I'm using extenders for those.

    So now I can continue with the sleeving honestly can't wait until I complete the sleeving :D.

    Watch these :rock::D.

    Just finished all the sata power cables :) & got some pics of it all including the floating ssd which was completely unintentional but actually looks pretty cool :D been doing very well at using up the waste sleeving, sorry about the poor quality pics but I'll make up for that when it's all completed ;).

    Oh yeah & so much for no more updates until I finish the sleeving, I'm in a habit of updating as I make progress :D.

    Yeah what are the plans on powdering etc.

    I think mirrored or polished?

    If you do it Red/black, i may have to not be your friend anymore,

    Im not a fan of individually sleeved cables to be honest, i still feel its far messier than proper cabling where cables are brought together and are neater, but seems im in the minority on this point theese days, i know for sure my original electronics tutor would be shouting at me if i do this.

    :hehe: Thanks Attila :thumb: I'll have to do a test on some scrap to see if I can get it anywhere near an anodised look, if I can't then I'll clean it all up, re brush it all & put a protective sealer on it keeping the raw metal look, maybe even polish the curve bars :thumb:.

    :hehe: The plan is some experimenting first of all to see if I can get the look I'm after, even in the concept stage of this project I had my heart set on anodising it all but the mix of brass & steel helicoils & thread inserts makes it a no go :wallbash: so after seeing a very good way of getting an anodised look paint job on some parts by MNPCtech for Darth Beavis's dragon ball case I was instantly interested so looked into it further & have a list of links on bits I'd need which are clear primer, candy paint, matt clear lacquer, yes matt I want to avoid gloss :D, anyway this should keep the nice brush finish visible & close to the look of anodising but need to do a test run first on some scrap :thumb:.

    Sleeving each wire individually is time consuming & then getting them to look neat is another time consuming bit, it's like flipping hair dressing :hehe::lol:, still though I have the additional cable tidiers to make which should add a really nice touch in fact I'll go & make one now to see if it's worth doing (at last an opportunity to use some scrap alu:D) :thumb:.

    That floating ssd looks really cool, yes. Unintentional or not, you would only need to mount it in one side, because it is so light. Might add to the overall coolness of this project - thought about that?

    :) Thanks mate :thumb:.

    Thanks Nutman :) yeah I'll be keeping it so it mounts on the 1 side, only thing irritating me at the moment with the cables is finding I'd be best using an extension for the ATX cable, it adds a heap of wire mess around the psu so I'm thinking serious about converting the extensions into a main cable to keep the neat look without having to hide any wire, only problem with this is it's on the motherboard end where there are a few wires that have 2 going into 1 so won't be easy to do a good looking sleeve job on the end that matters but compared to having a mass of un needed wire sat somewhere it is the better option so I'll use the rest of today to do that :thumb:.

    Well, how about just hiding the area where to wires come out of the PSU? Could be done using a small piece of bent aluminium.

    About the double crimped cables, crimp 1 end and strip another. Solder 2 wires to this and put SATA shrink over them (put sleeve underneath as well) . Now you crimp the 2 crimps on each one of the cables :thumb:

    I thought about doing that but it would be really cramped it's more than double length of the extender.

    Sounds like a plan cheers djzic +rep :thumb:.

    Indeed :D.
