    Painting the radiators 01/08/2012

I was unhappy with the standard colour employed on radiators aka a black colour. So one decided to repaint them.

The colours used and to go with the total them was sparkling graphite and electric blue.

Please not i did NOT use a spray gun or a compressor, just good old-fashioned RATTLE CANS

The first radiator up on the bench is the wonderful HWlabs Black Ice SR1 280MM

THIS is the used radiator as it looked before everything happened..

dull and dusty wouldnt you agree?

So after a dust blowing keying and sanding the radiator looked like this.......

on goes two layers of primer, then after a sanding down the areas i want to designate as electric blue are marked off and covered with low-tak masking (painters) tape.

after TWO COATS OF sparkling graphite (allowing to dry and key in between) I ended up with this..........

    and this

After allowing 48 hours to dry, I covered up the graphite by painters tape -sanded down the primer stripes and sprayed two coats of electric blue on the side panels and on the fins......

This is what i ended up with:)

All i have to do now is the clear protective layer and once dried a polish:D

This theme will be used on the 420MM BLAck ice sr1 AND THE 360mm

    2 Critiques here

1:- What did you key with ? don't look like sand paper looks like you've taken a key to the rad ,

2 :- The Blue on the black the black looks Way higher built up over the blue , Even after clear coat your going to see the layering , Apart from that the paint looks ok no runs from what I can see good job , maybe look at flatting the higher coat of paint down to bring it down to an even level

As I am sure that you are all aware Motherboard one of two present within this system has been upgraded from a X58 based system, to that of a X79.

    Motherboard 1: houses a 3960X CPU (2011 pin)
    Motherboard 2: Has a i7 950 installed. (1366)

After many months of searching and getting a good price, for my fan grill design. I found NATE of E22 to put my design into reality.

    Hes manufacturing the following a 420mm a 360mm and a 280mm grill.
