    99% Done !

    Update - 29.07.07

Finally got them pics uploaded! The case 99% Done ;) Its up and running, recently installed a few programs for it and fixed some settings for the fans. Ill add a "Todo-List" at the end of this update, so you can see whats left. Not much, just a few things. Have to buy some LEDs and resistors.

    Enought chit-chat? okey, pictures!

    First off, a small LCD-Mod

    Holes for the screws

All the parts, included my dremel

Here you can see the screws I will use

The plexi-bit that will sit in the back

    Mounted

    One more

That mod done, sleeving here we go! What a booring job to do, but it have to be done!

Here you see the victims. Minus the cathodes

The equipment, some old, some brand new

    First fan

    Second fan right up

Then the LCD, the molex is first

    Two temp. sensores

    Three temp. sensores

    One of three fan-contacts

With that out of the world, I was "just" going to test-fit it, but it didnt went excactly as I wantet it to go!

The screws were to high! And i thought i have enough space..

Wel, to hell with the upper plexi-bit!

    Now it fits!

Used some stripholders from Clas Ohlson and some strip to fasten the cables

Here you also can see the molex fastened!

When that done, i mounted the fans and stuff. And thats the way i left it before installing hardware

    One fan

    One more fan

    Empty Case! : o

    Side doors ect. mounted

The big day, mounting of hardware! The very best part of a project :)

Started off with an empty case..

.. Plus lots of delicious hardware!

    The CPU-Cooler, a Big Typhoon 120VX

MIST 500W! Recommend this one to ALL of you out there!

A custom-made hole for the PSU cables

Here you can see the backside of the case when just PSU and LCD-Display mounted..

Next up was the switches for the cathodes, these are mounted in the PCI-tracks at the back. Thats the way it looked like before i had to demount the upper one because of the PCI network-card.

The girlfriends cat was sitting admiring our work the whole time :p I can also mention that he found two small peaces of the blue sleeving, very interesting! Its still his favourite toy! Who says that we have to buy expensive toys for our cats..? ;)

Mb, CPU and cooler next up

The cooler is quite big! But also very silent :) A regulator for the fan, handy!

Mounting motherboard! After a little pushing it went in :) But i didnt use much power to get it in, just so you know.

Thight! Had to mount the P4 contact before mounting the mb.

    Mmm, lovley.. :)

Never mind this picture, just to show where the things thats not in the case are.. :p

Here you can see how its atm. Have to be fixed!

    The harddrive!

Doesnt look too good, but good enough. No one will see in it.

The ATX plus the IDE contact

The Dvd-burner and its cables! Doesnt look too bad, or? :)

Basic Kit's mounted in the drive-bay! The cables were just long enough, lucky me!

At last, all mounted! Lets have a look at the back side..

    The PSU-Bracket

    Antenna, graphic card etc.

    PCI_fan mounted

The logo in top, got very satisfied with it :) The engraving could have been on the inside, but well well.

    The front!

    The 99% Result!

    Some candy, as usual..

The cat was with us to the end!

And there we had started with the formatting!

    Lovley, no fighting in startup!

    POST SCREEN

Here you have a "Todo-List", not much but enough!

Thats that for this time, hang on for the last things on the list :)

Excellent work Ovin! Your cable management is excellent!

But I think you will have to work on the cooling, those temps are a bit high friend. (Are they in Celcius or Farenheit?)

Dean: Thank you ! Appriciate those words :)
Celcius, i forgot to mention. The are yes, but it was quite warm in her room then, but still. Its kinda high on the mobo and the CPU. What can i do to fix that? No new coolers, its not room for a new cooler to the mobo, and for the CPU i have a brand new one and im very satisfied with the old one, Big Typhoon 120 (this is a VX)! But anything else?

The_Beast: It is? Or do you mean on the inside or what?

Drive looks charcoal grey and in the photo looks very stark. Perhaps a Lian-Li drive cover would top it off.

With any card other than nvidia 8600, 8500 or HD 2600, 2400 your cpu will be used up to 50% for decoding (only about 1-6% with 8500, 8600 or hd2600, 2400). Temps still seem a bit high though. Doesn't seem to be enough air flow. Mounting rear exhaust fan on the outside can help. Maybe should have worked the top S into a fan design.

Thought about somer more fans, either in the top or at the bottom. But went from it. I can try to mount the rear fan on the outside, and remove the dust filter in front, will that help? I dont want to take everything apart now, to much work and i dont think my girlfriend would like it.. :-/

I know, looked at the first photo of it, didnt look so black, but it is. Its better irl, i can make a cover to it from one of the bay-covers, what about that? :) Then it will be totally hidden, and the front will be very clean.

The front cover idea should work for the drive. I'd hate to see you have to clean more dust out of it, but dust filters usually only allow about 50-60% of the fans actual CFM, so it can make a big difference.

I know, it may be some dust inside, but the filter on the case is quite thick. Its mounted in front of the fan, so i think it will drag some more air into the case.

What about the rear fan, mount it on the outside that you said. What difference will that make?

There is a dead spot around the fan itself. This causes air to swirl around it inside the case and reduces air flow. Putting the fan on the outside allows the air to be directly drawn out without interference.

SPQQKY: I didnt new this either, will definitivley do this tonight!

Also will bring my cables for the buttons so thats out of the world ;)
Did btw the PCI bracket for the cathode-switches last night. Have to adjust it a bit so im sure on that it will fit!

Whats left on my list then? Nothing? :D Thats good , but 50-60 degreeds celcius isnt bad for the graphic card, or ? Idle thoug. Havent tried so much games. Just ran the 3DMark06, it was above 70.

This crude little drawing in paint shows how the dead spot effects air flow.

And with the fan on the outside, direct air flow.

It should help a bit plus it cleans up the inside of the case a bit, depending on the look you want.
