what about haveing the dile control the track and have it also be a media pc with a flip up screen and does ur remote for it move the diel my sony it looks cool and has great modding potential (unfortuntaly my dad wont let me )
Ok can we please stop talking about my plant. Its a bush next to my front door and has been there ever since i have lived here. There is nothing illeage about it. Its just a plant. Nothing else. As for the project, i should be getting the mobo soon.
Minor Update When i was wiring up the power button i noticed two things. 1. The pcb it was mounted on was way too big. 2. When the swictch was in what should have been the open position, it was closed and when u pushed it you broke the circuit so it could not be used for a PC. So i ripped the swich off the pcb (flat headed screwdrive + lots of force) just to get the little mounting bracket. Then i took the only switch i had at the moment and attached it to the bracket and reinstalled it all. The only problem was that the power button didnt touch the switch when it was pressed. So whats a modder to do? Pull the sharpwriter pencil out of his pocket and rip off the peice of plastic that clips the pencil onto a shirt and push it in the slot of the power button. You guys are probably lost so i have a pic of the whole thing assembled. (i know i have a very messy desk. There are parts for the project everywhere) I am going to get the wires soldered to the switch asap. Here is a pic of my whole desk just for laughs. Until next time...
nice project... Same sorta desk layout as me, doesnt it annoy your neck? mine kills if i get a new game for addiction
Nope my neck never hurts after gaming. Of corse i turn my chair towards the moniter so i dont have to move my neck.
Today i went to my local micro-center and got some parts for this project. First i got a Soyo Sy-K&VMP2 Mother board for $10 freaking bucks!!!!!! Its got onboard video, usb 2.0 and all sorts of goodies. Its also small enough to fit in the project at just 7.5 inches wide. I also got a stick of 256 DDR for 35 bucks. New egg had a stick of 128 ddr for $27 so the 256 was well worth the extra money. I also found my old socket a heatsink. Its a Tt Volcano 6cu. For a processer i am going to use the one in my current computer because my dad is getting a Athlon XP 3000+ for his comp so i will get his Athlon XP 2200+ and this project will get my Athlon XP 1600+. I have a pic too.
I think the other buttons that you don't use, you could fill with bondo or whatever so they don't actually look like they're there from the front. Repaint it, and then add new words using decals or something. Looks cool though! BTW... You went SOYO?! Prepare for trouble...
This computer is only gonna play winamp so i dont care about it being a soyo or having a via chipset. And it was only 10 bucks
cool! can you post a clickable picture which leads to a larger pic so I can read all the features of your mobo?
Its features are, Socket A, 2700 DDR, Onboard video, onboard sound, USB 2.0.... On a side note, I will have a processor soon. My dad is getting a 3000+ Barton so i get his 2100+ so my sitser gets my 1600+ so then i get her 1 ghz duron for Project Sony. New egg should send his processor soon.
Ohh ok well its FSB is 333mhz and it has no s-ata. Agp 4x/8x but it says on the little thing that covers the agp slot " CAUTION This AGP slot can support 1.5v AGP cards only." I could care less about the agp slot because it has onboard graphics and i only need the monior to set this project up. Once it is running it will be controled by a remote and a 20x4 lcd display. I might steal my sister cpu tonight so i can get the computer up and running. On a sad note, My maxtor 80gig hdd that i was going to use has stoped working. When I turn it on and it just makes a noise of the read/write arm smashing into the side of the drive case. The good news is its under warranty until 2005. I talked to maxtor and they are sending me a replacement asap.
[Cue the alice cooper music] SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!!![/Cue the alice cooper mus Well if you couldnt guess by the music, schools is over over for me. That means alot more time to work on the project. Like everyone else that had finals, i havent updated in a while. The poll closed today and the votes were 15 votes for the name "Project Sony" and 35 for "Project TC-FX150" so this project will be called "Project TC-FX150". I was going to have a major update but my dad lost our Arctic Silver Thermal Paste so i can put the heatsink on. The processer is a Athlon XP 1600+ with a cooler-master hsf. Still waiting on the replacement 80gig hdd from maxtor but that should be here by Friday. I got most of the parts to build the serial IR reciver so that should be together soon. I hope to find the thermal paste in the morning so i can give everyone an update with pics. I still need to order the shuttle psu and the cystalfontz lcd. The current specs are AMD Athlon XP 1600+, Soyo mobo and 256 ddr. Until the Update, Adios.
Ok i called maxtor and the hard drive is gonna be here on friday. I booted up the system on an old 10 gig hdd just to get things working. Here are some pics. I also got the stand offs to mount the board to the case.
Confusion! Err, sorry if this sounds stupidly dumb, music playing on continuous? How you sposed to change song if you don't like it? What if you want to add new songs? As you've said your just using a little screen to tell you the song, so i'd take that as no mouse, no keyboard, no monitor etc, just a hard drive full of music, correctimundo? Sorry if thats REALLY dumb of me, gotta learn somewhere though
You have it allmost all right Jang. There is also going to be a remote to control everything. The program that i am using to control the lcd screen is a plug-in for winamp. It has a browser feature so you can search for songs, add new songs, create new playlists, etc. It also makes cool visualizations. I use the LC Display plug-in. You can download it here : http://www.markuszehnder.ch/projects/lcdplugin/index.php . It takes alot of work to set it up but once you have it working it works like a dream. There are some tuts on how to get it running on that site. If you dont have an lcd you can have it use an onscreen lcd. Its pretty cool. I hope this answered you questions Jang.
Wow Fedex is fast. About and hour after my last post i see a FedEx truck in my drive. So i go out and sign for my package. Then i put the package inside because i had to go to Marching band practice. I open the package when i got home. The Package The hard drive well packed. The Old hard Drive and the new one.
