Thanks for the reply on the acrylic. I did forget to comment before on the mod :duh: Looks great so far!

I was hoping to get a piece of the acrylic for a mousepad but I can never find the stuff! Sucks.

I hope that you will put a wire grille (painted black) on the rear of the PSU. It certainly wouldn't restrict airflow, and will prevent that nasty accident that's just waiting to happen. Don't forget that the heatsinks are often live, so even if you've insulated the mains wiring, you still have all the components on the PCB to worry about when you reach round the back of your pc to switch it off...

Otherwise, well done. It looks great.

I'd thought about it but I never turn my PC off at the back. And it would be placed in a way where no small hands could go. I'd looked at using a grill but it really ruins the look in my view. Still i'll keep looking.

I have to say the power supply turned out mighty fine. I didn't think the frosted acrylic would look that good on the black paint of the PSU. My compliments, and I'll be subscribing :) Keep up the good work!

I love the power supply, top notch! I'm thinking of getting an enermax myself, as I just don't trust my bargain Q-Tec 400w. Does anyone know of any acrylic sheet suppliers in the uk? as I have been wanting to get this stuff for ages! And yes I have used the search!

I have no idea where you could get Acrylic from in the UK. I'd try Plastic suppliers in the Yellow Pages (you have them right?)

Failing that do a google serach (uk only) for Frosted Acrylic and see what appears.

Feel a bit usless being in New Zealand. Can't help at all sorry.

    /me looks at a map...

/me finds Britain and New Zealand...

/me knows there isn't JUST ONE acrylic store in the world selling white frosted acrylic :D

But in all seriousness, great modding so far. The diffused glow is very nice and clean, very subtle. The plans you posted were a bit faded with the camera butI think I get the idea. Good luck man :thumb:

    Case for trouble.

Just as I was finishing up the power supply, my second hand Lian Li PC 65B arrived. I am very happy with its condition. It was only 2 months old but over $130 NZD cheaper. There are no scratches or marks on the outside and the inside is only slightly scuffed. Not that that matters anyway. It will all become clear, do not worry. :)

    Here are some, pimp shots.

Just like the Power Supply, the first thing I did upon reciving the Case was pull it apart.

Nice big case. I'm impressed with the quality. This is my first non $10 case and I certainly won't be going back.

The finish is flawless. Gotta love it

In my origonal plans there was nothing about a Hard drive cage so out it came. Unfortunatly, or fortunatly it left these rails and and the Speaker behind. Not wanting to get rid of the speaker or drill out the rivets, I decided to make a cover for it out of Acrylic.

After some careful measuring I quickly made a sketchup model of what to build.

The Rail cover required 5 Seperate pieces of Acrylic to be cut. Then stuck together like Plywood.

Cardboard cut outs helped a lot with tracing onto the acrylic. Also gives a hint to what it will look like completed.

Being quite thin and not wanting to snap the acrylic, I carefully cut up between them.

Drilled a hole in each of the pieces to make it easier to Jig Saw.

    First one cut out.

The top Cover cut out and in "place"

In total it took me about 2 hours of sanding and filing to get them all to a similar shape and size.

Using a acrylic glue I brought from the local hardware shop I proceeded to stick the layers together. After drying I then sanded them again untill all sides were flat and even.

Looks mint if you ask me. What do you all think? It will be a great place to hide excess cables.

Again, if you'd like larger pictures. Feel free to ask.
