Very nice psu, although it would look better if it wasn't so obvious where the 3 leds were. EL sheet maybe?

    eeerm, that's nothing special ...

it's just the way how light catches the case so it apears silver but it's still black and stays black until you let the sun reflect in it so you're camera get's to much light so he thinks it's silver ....
    [/offtopic]

but anyways, looks very promising ...

set up multiple photobucket accounts and spread the pictures over all of them so the load is spread out? :worried: *hides*

Hmm posable but it would have to be very thinly spread out between the accounts. Its also against the photobucket rules. I am a bit uneasy about changing names too (Read Lazy). It may be easier to pay $9 and upgrade. Anyway. Its reset for now so i'll have some time.

    ya know, for like $5/mo you could just get real webspace, and not have that stupid panel to go through, just FTP, than and u can view the dir and browse pictures at your own disgression w/o other posts, ya know? btw i'm liking the case so far, definetly eye-pleasing, but the pics are down again ; ;

    Pics are working for me.

I understand I could get real hosting. But in NZ any real hosting that has an unlimited badnwidth is expensive. At least 25 USD.

It uses alot more than you'd expect. I'll be updating soon. In the past 10 days over 2gigs of bandwidth has been swallowed and this thread has been sitting idle mostly. So, it has the posibilty to be a lot higher.

I'll see what happens. According to photobuck i've used 178% of my 1.5gigs. But the images are still displaying... hmm.

Hm strange. They are definitly displaying on my pc. I've cleared the cache and done full refreshs and they load induvidually and at internet speed for me... Very strange.

Update time. Just got home yesterday so time to get cracking on some modding. Some more bits arrived today, what superb timing :p.

    Bit number one:

    Its a silenX 120mm 11db 40cfm Fan.

Very sharp blades = no fingers.

It came with yellow vibration absorbing/damping plugs.

Now, 40cfm isn't very much. But, these fans come from the factory undervolted, if you look carefully you notice, the plug has a resistor in it to slow the fan.

It happans to be a 120 ohm resistor and when removed the fan blows alot more air, at least twice as much, if not more. It is however now not silent. As the fan will be running on PWM thats not important. I'd rather have the ability to turn it up high if need be.

    Bit number two:

A BTC combo drive, 52x write, 32x rewrite, 52x read and 16x DVD read. I'm please because it supports both single layer and dual layer dvd reading, which will most likly be useful in the future.

Nero and Power DVD were included with it along with the usual accessorys.

I though this was a really nice touch. Included with the bundle were two alternate face plates for the drive, one black and one silver. Its good because it avoides the hassle of having to buy the right coloured drive for your computer and allows for upgrading to a differnt case in the future.

First thing I did was test it. One audio cd...

One dvd, and I burt a quick cd of music. I was suprised at how quiet the drive was. Much quieter than my old 32x read drive.

    Warrantys, who needs them.

After a bit of poking around I found the section on the PCB for the LED. Its a dual colour led, so using the multimeter I determined that the middle plug is ground and the ones on either do the flashing :)

The soldering iron made quick work of the holder and out it came.

I swapped the led for a 10000MCD 3.3V led. As the flashers only supply 2.5 volts I chose to use one of my really bright leds so that its as bright as possable.

    THe replacement LED soldered in.

However the replacement only has two leads (obviously) and I wanted it to flash on either of the two inputs. Read or Write. Using a big of wire I soldered a short lead conecting the two. Ghetto but perfect.

After a bit more poking around and measuring with the mulimeter I located the momentary switch for the tray and determined that when the 3.3v side shorts with ground the tray opens. I soldered a cable and routed it through the internals and out a hole at the back.

Heres a small photo of the led in action. THis photo was taken in bright daylight so its not very visable.

Theres a lot more on the drawing board for thes CD drive. Including but not limited to, more advanced remote access, paint job, Frosted acrylic feature

This is a Sketchup plan for a false floor i'm making out of aluminium. Looks pretty basic and it is but its designed to fit into another sketchup image.

Presenting the uber dooper sketchup model of trace.

I'm pretty sure everythings the right size and scale. It will be very useful as this project advances.

Again, if you'd like larger pictures. Feel free to ask and post comments about the work.
