Project Tribal Dragons [front done::Now with 110 pics::UPDATED july 17th]

well... after finishing me first project, I wanted to do another :D

here's the victim... an old generic ugly case;)

so here's the fun comming ;) I'm cutting windows on the right and top panel. the top panel will have a tribal design in it. here it is half done from under it.

and from above. you see the green markings that aren't cut yet but I should be done by tommorow

and the icing on the cake, the right panel ;) it's a tribal design with 2 winged dragons:D A friend of mine helped me with the drawing but it sure looks bad ass ;) it SHOULD take me about 6 hours to cut it and ready to sand for painting;)

now, I'm doing all the cuting with a dremel. I wanted to do it myself and not waterjet cut... it's going smootly so far ;)

also, I'll replace the face plate by a alu sheet with a plexi in 2 parts. the bottom part will be fixed but the higher part will be a door. The drives will be flush with the frame (which will be painted too).

I'm gonna paint the case very dark charcoal metallic and I'll paint the tribal designs red metallic with an airbrush ;)

so what you think about it so far? any comments/suggestion?;)

I'm gonna post pics tom since I'm going to my friend's house tonight and I'll take some there :D

    UPDATE!!!

well I've done more cutting and here's the results so far :D

here's the top panel finished:D just need to put some putty at some places :D

Another pic of the top panel but the way it will be on the case

I've started to cut the right panel. Here where I am so far.
[note that I cut the curves one shot, no trimming... by cutting both sides of the panel, I can cut little curves without break the disk :dremel:]

I've let my reinforced disk aside and I use normal cutting disks so when it's small, I can cut little details

same pic but behing the panel

and here's the 2 pieces that I'm gonna glue to the plexi. need to trim them a bit so they are more the same... they're pretty the same anyways :D

that's it for now... there's about 2 hours left of cutting now so more pics coming up this week :dremel:

I also usually make a note of it when I use that word on a forum. :) That's odd.

@Tribal - That's some very ambitious dremel work. I'm glad that everything is going smoothly. Keep it up. :dremel:

well with so many people that get theirs panel water jet/laser cut... I wanted to do something complex but on my own and shows that you can do complex designs with only a dremel :D

but the cutting will be done pretty soon :D

    text update

well I've almost cut everything :D

only the wings are left to cut...

but unfortunatly I don't have a digital camera so I'll have to wait a day or 2 to take some pics... by that time, everything will be done but I've kept the parts that I've cut for pics :dremel:

learning how to cut curves helped me a lot and I'll have to do very little trimming after cutting.

gonna post pics as soon as they are taken :cooldude:

    Dremel cut done!

well the cut is done :D

been a few days tho... but now I bought a digital camera so I'll be able to update this log faster and more often :D

since everything was done while I didn't had the camera, I kept the parts so here's the results :dremel:

and what it will look like when it's done :D

here's what was drawn, does it looks right?

this weekend I'll put some putty to block the ventilation holes and I'll put some where I've cut a little on the panel ;)

I'll take pics with panels on the case tom and will post them :D

well, it,s not as hard as it may seems... by cutting from both sides of the panels, you can cut curves easily without breaking your disks :D

took a pic with panels on the case :D
