Nice paint job - can't wait to see it all finished!
Where did you get that Black paint from? I think that I'm in LOVE with it...
How do you "make" the spray?
the paint is BMW #416 enamel paint. Just ask your local car dealer or car paint shop to know where you can get the paint made in a spray can
I've asked a bmw dealer where I could get the paint made and they point me to a paint shop that makes spray cans... so you should do the same to know where in your area you could get it
btw, it should cost you 10-12 $ usd for a 100g spray can!
just don't forget to take an enamel clearcoat with it
ok without more words here's the update!
I painted some screws
I took nylon nuts so they don't loosen with time
2 panels screwed
from the inside
the 4 panels screwed together
from the back
from the top. I haven't paint that part since it will be cover by the top
the psu holder screwed
I had to cut the plexi a little to make it fit
the window fixed with silicon
I knew that these old PSM mags would serve me one day
the mobo plate installed
all the frame screwed
the top panel installed
the top again
only the left panel left to install... whoo hoo
close up of the dragons panel
the back with everything installed
to be honest, I didn't tought the results would be as great!!! I was very surprised and pleased by the contrast and the final results
so... what's left?
I got 2 red ccfls waiting to be put in and lit those dragons
Also, I have to make a new faceplate... since I royaly screwed up the original while unmounting it...
I've started designing the faceplate ona an alu sheet and I'll use car mesh to cover the fan area
I don't have any hardware to put in the case... so it will be left as a decoration for a while... and that gives me trouble designing the front... don't know if I'll put a floppy... don't know how much optical drives will be eventually in...
any suggestions for the front would be VERY appreciated
I agree with you, those colors of paint go together VERY well.
-> excellent work tribal, love the paint job
OMG, thts so sweet
I agree - total sweetness.
thx guys for the comments
a little update: I've cut the alu sheet to the desired size and cut the fan area and the car mesh. I'll draw a tribal design on the front and cut it dremel style!
after I'll bend the alu so it does like : |_______| and I'll paint everything just need to figure how to fix the switch I have (old switch from my nikao case) and it will be done leaving me more time to plan my monster new project! once this one done, I'll post the other project
stay tune for more updates and pics (monday or thuesday it should be done)
Re: almost done
Sorry.. i just had to..
i like your selection as to have not only the cover of the PSM mags facing up, but the selection of PSM to have on top... lol
the worst in that is that is wasn't done on purpose
mad nice work!
saw the dremel skillz and was like wow, then saw the painting skillz and was like wow, then the color of the paint job struck me and was like WOW!!
keep up the good work
yeah the colors are very nice!!! can't get better looking paint than car paint especially on the bmw cars
faceplate in progress
well I've been working yesthurday and today on the faceplate so here's the update!
I've cut with a x-acto the fan area and placed the mesh behind just for a preview
I've draw a tribal design on paper (based on a tattoo)
I've started to cut the design
here's the tribal all cutted (the middle part wasn't cut since I wanted to keep the cut out parts.. but I've decided to place the power switch in it)
here's the design drawn on the alu ready for the dremel operation
since I knew that a design with so small parts would be hard to do with the dremel alone, I bought a flex shaft! (damn worth it!!)
after a few minutes with the dremel
after half an hour
Finally, Maggy, my dog that always supports me with my mods (does she looks like she agrees that I've did a good job? )
so thursday I have don't work (whoo hoo) so I'll cut the drive bays, install the door, bend the alu, paint everything and install the faceplate (if I have time for all that )
Wow, mate I have done a great job Thats fab!!
Looks great man! What did I tell ya about that flexi shaft, huh? Can't wait to see it all bent and painted.
ok the front is done... well just need the paint job to do
I've put silicon on the back of the front for the mesh
here's everything after 2 minutes of work once the mesh was placed, I've put more silicon
This morning the mesh was stock there forever
the front after drilling the mounting holes
here's the stand of that I made of wood dremel style
the bay area was cut. Since I didn't knew how much drives I'll be using later... I decided that a door would be perfect for the situation
front view of the door installed
back view of the door
the door opened
ok so what's left? just need to sand everything and paint
also, there's 3 "free" areas in the tribal... that's not for style but to support 3 switchs I'll put 2 switchs for ccfls (like the army ones but without the cap) and a power switch right in the middle of the tribal.
heh? reset switch? what's that?
the easiest is to come
That is just too good!!!! it must be fake Cant wait to see more
