I have some questions in hardware, overclocking, and watercooling. First off here is my plan Case Asus Vento 3600 PSU Silverstone Strider 1000W Mobo Asus L1N64-SLI WS CPUs FX-72 x2 RAM Corsair or G.Skill or OCZ HDD WesternDigital or Hitachi Water Cooling Swiftech Questions 1. Asus Vento 3600 Supports only ATX and smaller board, Asus L1N64-SLI mobo is EATX. With minor modding it will fit in right? 2. Is the PSU I picked powerfull enough to support 2x 125W CPUs and 2x G81 (GeForce 8900?) GPUs and 1x or 2x 24W Pumps with the rest of the system? 2.1 will the PSU have much power left for overvolting? 3. Is 1 pump (Swiftech MCP655) powerfull enough to support 2x impingement water blocks (Swiftech Storm) 2x GPU Water blocks (Swiftech MCW60) 2x Northbridge water blocks (Swiftech MCW30)? 3.1 which way is it better to plug in a second pump, one after an other or in perallel joined by Y-tube? 3.2 to maximize performance would it be better to include more water blocks (2x Power Phase water blocks and water cooling RAM adapter) or remove some blocks from the plan (2x Northbridge water blocks) or sugest a combo of water blocks. 3.3 how many and how big radiators should i get? I was thinking of 3x or 2x 120mm (Swiftech MCR120 + Thermaltake A2368) size is a problem as the case is pretty small (Planning on overclocking FX-72 from 2.8 GHz to 3.25 GHz) 4. If the pump has a wider outlet does that affect "max-head" (wider-lower, thiner-higher)? 4.1 What is more important in a pump for impingement water blocks max head or max pressure? Or could it be that Flow rate is also important? 4.2 Pump Swiftech MCP655 has 50 PSI max pressure and only 10ft max head, can someone explane what is the difference between Max pressure and Max head (besides the way of mesuring) 5. is L1N64-SLI worth buying, now that DDR3 is out and HT3.0 and PCI Express 2.0 are just around the conner? 5.1 From what I have read so far each CPU has 2 dual channel slots does that mean that the mobo L1N64-SLI has 4 channels of RAM? 5.2 are FX-7X CPUs worth buying? 5.3 which RAM should i get, as far as i know ASUS Mobo with nVIDIA chipset have higher support for Corcair RAM and I found Corcair ram highly overclockable. Plz, answare at least some of the questions ^_^ thanx

Any sugestions on Opteron Mobos I want a dual socket (F) mobo And Does Opteron (1207) supports 800MHz RAM And how overclockable are they
Ok, I have found out that L1N64 Supports Opteron CPUs with unbuffered (@ 667MHz) RAM so which would it be better to get 1. L1N64 with 2x Opteron 2214 or 1x Opteron 2220* 2. L1N64 with 2x FX-72 3. n6650W with 2x Opteron 2214 or 1x Opteron 2220* *buy second CPU later. And how overclockable are Tyans? I've heard that ASUS KFN32-D has only 10% CPU overclockablibly And this could be a stupid question but can i overclock registerd RAM like from 667 to atleast 700 or 800? P.S. Could somebody also answare some of my Watercooling questions?
Haha I wonder if the dave graham is responsible for that?! A1. If you're after Opterons I suggest a Tyan board like the S2927, it has all of the features that the L1N64, but native support for Opterons and ECC Reg'd is a safer bet. A2. I've heard the FX70 series aren't all that compared to a similar Opteron or Xeon system, so I would avoid them. A3. The S2915 (you labelled it n6650W) and S2927 are very good boards. Supplemental answer. If you're buying a second CPU later, bear in mind server-based Quad core AMD chips are just around the corner, so QC Opterons are near. I'm going to recommend some reading; http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?t=80445 Basically have a good look around the Newbie and Motherboard sections of the 2CPU forums. Edit: Yes I'm pretty sure dave_graham over at 2CPU.com is responsible for the Opterons in the L1N64. He runs Flickerdown.com and specialises in Opterons and Xeon solutions.
Okay for watercooling the pump you picked might be able to handle all that but an Eheim might be better. As for the loop/ block questions use something like this if you can make one rather then using lots of seperate loops WC link Hope that all helps a bit
Thanx for the reply. Now i would like this questions answared 4. A good site to get you started is Procooling, just bear in mind that many ofthese guys play with watercooling for a decent amount of time, and thus expect you to know how to use google and search their forums. Basically they're good guys and very technically adept but also easy to piss off. I know cos im a user there, and it takes a bit of time to get to know them. I know Bit has some excellent modders that use watercooling too. Head over to the Exteme Cooling section and take a look at the sticky's and search a bit. Good luck.
Then may I suggest it would be good manners to update this thread accordingly, so nobody else spends time answering questions you've already had answered elsewhere I'd also like to take this opportunity to ask why you insist on using that [gaudy] colour for your text
I did concider updating it but the Thread was soo dead that, posting anything would only bump it up. Just look at teh post dates it took 3 days do get some comment. As for the color of my font Well I geuss you can say it's like my signature. My posts are typed in color "Teal" and Font "FixedSys" but I can't change the font on this site. See
