    Project : Unknown Journey

This is my first modding projects and first modding ever to a comp case.
So the experience is a new one!!! and an unknown journey.

The idea is to build a case form scratch, with addition of parts from a new case i bought, that when taken apart simply folded, as it was that bad!!! (pre-modded) !! :wallbash:

The case is to be made of MDF primarily but perspex innards?

Still not sure on the exact finish as the project is just unfolding!!!

    First stages:

    Drawn and cut MDF panels!!

Then these were routed around all of the edges so that they would latch together like the edge of a box!!

    And fitted together

Next was to add a fan and temperature controller salvaged form the before mentioned disater case.

This lights up blue and has temperature probes for the CPU, HDD and System.
    Not wired up yet though!!!

Also preview of the lower HDD coller fan mountings, holes just cut!!

    UPDATE:

Testing LCD with old Compaq pc, looks sweet :D

Day Shot - Still need to work on buttons as they are very hard to press

And night shot, hard to show but there is a blue ring that glows aroud the top of the routed edge, like a glowing frame for the LCD!!!

Can just see on the photo as camera is struggling, will try again when its darker!!!

Ooh, nice workmanship! How did you cut those shapes in that MDF panel?

The shape for the LCD and Fans, was first cut with a fretsaw, and then the edge of the LCD has been routed!! :naughty:

Soon the fan surround will be?

What colour fans do you think i should go for?? BLUE, GREEN, WHITE OR OTHER?

don't do the same blue that everyone uses, find some deeper blue or more pale blue (maybe even aqua) that compliments the LCD but doesn't look like the same old standard bl00.

or go white, it'd accent the LCD nicely.

can see where that lcd came from :D your old case really is too much premodded.

you shouldn't mix too much different color lights, they just give a crappy look. two different colors is the max. i'd prefer blue on this case, even though everyone has blue lights.

have you decided the case color yet?

Nice craftsmanship with the MDF. I like the countersunk look you gave to the LCD and buttons, and the rounded edges on the LCD cutout make for a nice, clean look.

As far as color goes, here's an extrememly simple color wheel with some examples of basic color schemes. There really isn't anything wrong with using 3 or more colors. As long as the colors are chosen wisely and used well, the result could be nice enough.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about whether or not everybody else has the same blue that you want to use. Everybody's cases aren't sitting in your room, are they? Do what you think looks nice, because you are the one who ultimately must live with it :). That said, I vot for blue, mostly becuase it's my favorite color ;).

From what I can tell so far, this looks like it will be good build!

I thinking maybe sticking with blue or white as these highlight each other?

But i was tempted to go for green as this has rarely been done?

I could filter the LCD, so that it was a different colour?

    Options so far

    BLUE, WHITE, GREEN

    BLUE + WHITE

    BLUE + GREEN

    ????????????

Better pic of the LCD, the halo effect is what i was trying to show earlier,

I love it when suomething happens that you hadnt planned for and it looks mint!!!

I think the second would look best... But do you need two 3.5"-bays? One would look better if you ask me...
