interesting.. Why dony you buy some plexi and mount the psu/ mobo on it It would be alot safer than ducktape not to mention it would look good to I hope you put some powerfull cooling in that considering the psu has no fan now. its going to overheat what CPU is that? amd K6, pentium? your proably gona kill that if its over 233Mhz with that little fan It looks like your rushing Dont rush, its gona turn out ugly
One...I'm a cheapskate. Two...no room for plexi. 3...I have cardboard to supplement the ducttape. Lotsa cooling. Many blowholes on either side. Its a AMD k6-2 400 mHz. I am planning on adding some other more fans. And the processor load is going to be small Yes I am. School has started again and I have/want to get this done before september. Lucklily, everything is going to be completely contained and covered. No pc parts are going to be visible! My plan is to just get the simple stuff done. Basically, just get it working and then work on some details, such as remote buttons and other such things. Anyways...on with today's update: I went out to buy my ps2 and vga extender cables for this project and for monolith. THESE THINGS ARE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE!! I ended up only buying one thing, a usb to 2 ps2 port and it ate up all of my budget! I will have to scrape together some more cash to buy my 3 vga extension cables and another usb to ps2 cale thing for monolith. A note on by blowholes... I'm covering them with some mesh that I have. I might put some blue leds in the case and behind the blowholes to light this baby up. This should look sweet when i'm done! Well, the plan was to get some work done this weekend, but doesn't look like it is going to happen. I have to work tonight until late, the same tommorow and sunday. And then school starts monday.... Anyways, thanks for all the support. I'm glad that people think that this is a cool idea!
not necesarily. my coppermine 800mhz is running 35-40 degrees load with small (4cm) copper radiator and small 4 cm fan. it worked well without fan tho. (just didn't notice when old fan blew and it must have ran without any active cooling for a while)
Cumines dont heat up mutch even withought fans but hes got a k6-2. I have a k6-2 ocd to 450 and that thing idles at 40c even with a 80mm fan and a nicely laped heatsink and good thermal paste. But luckily it dosent go over 46c even running prime number gen. Ah the days of crappy pc parts.
I ran a 2.2 P4 in a VCR once, one 80MM fan for the PSU and the HSF, and it was fine. Even have the DVD/CDRW wired up to eject when I hit the eject button. Gotta get pics of that too. I got like 5 or six rigs either assembled or in parts...
Ducktape has a light side and a dark side and it binds the universe together, just like the FORCE!! use the force bootupbuddha
yes it does...but the duct tape in my mod is only temporary. Eventually, everything will be epoxied and such. sounds cool. But I am not going to use a cd/dvd/optical drive. Only hds and maybe a floppy if I can fit it. Hey don't diss the pc parts. Crappy or not, its what I have. A 500mhz K6-2 is much better than a 266mhz Intel P2! And on with the update for today.... Ahh the dreaded first day of school. My modding activities are going to be greatly curtailed! This weekend I managed to cut two blowholes in the side of the vcr case...barely! This this is like half inch steel! They look pretty bad, because the plastic coating around the edges heated up and burned...time for some rubber c molding! Due to technical difficulties...I have no pics for today. Thats what happens when you use a recycled floppy disk... Guess thats all folks....
