Project: XBOX (needs name) !Update: June 06. 56k Warning!

I'm really into modding, its really all about eyecandy to me. My PC though, is a piece of sh**. The closest thing to a PC in my possesion was an Xbox my brother bought for me. So I decided to mod. I've been doing these mods without my dads permission, because if he knew he'd flip out. Im very young, and he doesn't have much confidence in me... so here I am. I am also limited to tools and supplies, as I need to steal or sneak em into the house. I am very limited on money, about $7 USD :| :'( So... I need to make my Xbox blinged out without having to spend money, obviously more than $7. Just wanted to add.. Thursday, May 27th:

This was the day I opened my xbox case, nothing too important about this.. Kinda shmoozed around the case.

Friday, May 28th:

I surfed all over www.xbox-scene.com the day before, looking for mods I can do with the crap I had. This was the day I made my Xbox Eject LED Half Red/Half Green. That was even too hard for me, the front panel is a bish. Here is a pic of the newly designed front panel. I pried the jewel off and left it for the morning.







I was partially blinded by the light flashing off this protective metal.


Saturday, May 29th:

I needed more!!1 This just made me feel good, as I have not been doing anything in months. I stole my neighbors Rotomatic (see first paragraph). The dunce left it out there, case and all. So I took it... It was very slow at first, but I hooked up the adapter and it was going faster. Still not a dremel... This thing couldnt even gimme a cut, my skin stopped it... So I did some 1337 Rotomatic moddage.. My glasses+rotomatic(AKA POS)



After that was over, I needed to get to bussiness. I left over cleaner on my jewel over night, so all the black was peeling and now the green was turning creamish. So I scraped it off with plaster knives and flathead screw drivers... came out nasty so I sanded with 150 grit sand paper, and when I get 360, 600, and 12000 grit, I will make a awesome clear jewel. So I left that sanded down jewel t othe side... Now I had to figuire out my spinning part. So the jewel could spinon a cheap motor connected to a molex plug. I originall had the idea to use a old fan, and dremel... i mean rotomagic the excess away, but MR. cutoff blade cut to close and snap. couldnt open the fan nore solder it back. So I just threw it out... I got the cut off blade and worked on making a whole, this took me about 2 1/2 days of work. About 1hour a day.. And here is my current hole.







Sunday, May 30th:

Didn't do much at all today. I made this hole a bit bigger and grooved around the sides. I need that sand paper...So I can make teh shiney.

 

How about project fugly box?

Interesting to see you modding a console. Only a few people actually do this. No name ideas, but green and red together? What is this, a black christmas?

Interesting in modding the xbox... I have through about it myself but with a budget that is over 7 dollars...

oh the LED??? Im going to try and change it to a deep blue-purple. There are two leds on the front circuit, Im going to press a coin battery against em, see what colors I get, and take em out and replace. Im thinking about betting a modchip, well.. I knew I was going to. But the money is low as you can see and I need one thats suitable. I was thinkng CheapMod from www.llama.com . Oh and can someone suggest a paint color scheme?? No chrome suggestions please There will be updates as soon as I get some papers and a motor. As for the motor, can I hook up a standard electric motor, from like one of those little toy fans to a molex plug in my xbox? If so I will use this...

For color may be like a yellow and black? never seen that color scheme in an xbox before.

 

i dont want in your face eye gouging colors, just two simle, not so bright colors

how about orange and blue, or orange and green, or green and blue

 

lol now that you say look like a bee I could see how that would look ugly . Red with white possibly? like a nice candy apple red, or deep would be less eye catching.

 

Trying too keep the easy to the eye tones... Im thinking a pearl crystal blue for the X and a white coat for the small bits, and well see what goes on. IS there links for little outlined xboxes i can fill?

and edit: Where can I obtain tis blue pearl crystal color?? I dont want to mix...

 

I was thinking an angel name because the case was going to be white with blue pearl.. whatdaya think?

Really, stealing from people?? That kind of thing just brings down the modding community, in my opinion. I sure hope you plan on returning everything to your neighbor!

Well, I suppose as long as everyone is happy, then here's a proverbial "MOD ON!! "

For colors, why not try glow-in-the-dark-paint? That would be pretty keen. Turn out the lights and pop a game into the glowing box of fun!

bad @ thinking of not bad names tehehe. I dont really want to make a glow paint job, because its really tacky if you ask me. MY OFFICIAL COLOR IS WHITE WITH BLUE HIGHLIGHT. FROST WHISTE WITH A BLUE CRYSTAL PEARL. Sorry for the caps thats my paint. any your going to wait for a while until I resource some sandpaper, I cant find much. Anyone wanna donate some 360, 600, 1200 grit sandpaper, only need a small ammount and I live in NJ Lets see how resourcefull I can get, but until then. Wait for updates.
