Bad luck man! Hope they will compensate you!
Yeah, sue their a**!
After all, you have weblogs to prove how long/difficult it was to build.
A decent lawyer (is there one?) should be able to get you reconstruction costs as well as the money for the parts.
Sorry to hear about the damage - I had something similar happen to a kiteboard last june (fortunately I had proper KS insurance so I could claim) at least the damage happened on the way back tho' - so you could show the project at the cpl
I knew it! They ARE smashing the goods with big friggin´ rocks!
All luck to you mate!
Sorry to see that disaster.... I hope you can get it working again.
I can't imagine the rage you felt when you opened the box and found your masterpiece broken...
What was the damage to the flight case like?
/me feels stupid for not seeing why the images weren't working
but now /me sees the carnage of what was previously a thing of great beauty
Sue the *******s for everything they're worth.
That damage is terrible Mashie. I hope you can get it sorted out ok.
Every modders worst nightmare I think.
Sorry to hear...
you probably couldnt have taken it as carryon either...
very unfortunate, I really liked that mod (and the carbon fiber)
Man, that is rediculous! It's not like it can be compensated with cash and re-purchased. You put hours of hard work into that. Airlines and couriers should treat other people's property with a bit more respect instead of kicking boxes into and out of vans etc.
What the hell happened to do that much damage??
Man that makes me mad! I had a friend whose baggage must have been rifled through by the throwers. They took his armani belt and even had the cheek to put a crappy generic (and almost worn out) belt in instead. The handler must've just swapped it for his!
I've had a bag so badly treated that a bottle of red wine, all nicely wrapped in bubblewrap and a bathtowel and placed securely in the middle of my clothes in a fairly tightly packed semi-rigid case got smashed and ruined a load of clothes.
What a bunch of *******s!
The case was dropped on it's back a few times from a great height. The flightcase it was inside got big dents on all the top corners...
Computers are high valuables and not covered by the carriers nor travel insurance companies.
But the case itself could be argued as a work of art or a product with a specified value (materials plus labour) and you may be able to claim for that...?
I wonder whether it was just a drop (or two. Or two hundred). Since the whole "War on Terrorism" drama customs and postal services have been really paranoid. I mail-ordered a Bluetooth dongle and found that the UK Post Service had opened the package for inspection (not that they left a notice to that effect, which is what they are legally supposed to do). I bet they X-rayed your package and thought all that stuff must be an elaborate weapon of mass destruction or something...
Bummer man. If I ever take my PC anywhere, it is going to be hand luggage, on my lap in the plane all the way!
Yeah, claim it's modern art
Too bad, I sure hope you are able to fix it up
Thats ****ing rediculous. Sue them.
I was called back from the gate on the main speakers to explain the content in my checked in luggage...
TSA were really cool with the explanation I gave them and I was standing next to them when they resealed the box as per my instructions. The bug was messed up at a later stage.
Sue the buggers for the destruction of this invaluable piece of art!
Can I see a picture of the case you packed it in if you have one?
I want to see how well it was packed if it came out looking that bad. Definately settle this with them too.
