Wow That is one nice looking case! /me waves hand in front of beaster's face "You don't want to keep this case, you want to give it to me."
What? HOW DID I MISS THIS ONE? *runs to phone and books appointment with an optician* Nice, nice work! Just don't sit too close to it, or you'll get sucked inside!
Honestly, lots and lots of elbow grease. Prime, wetsand, prime, wetsand, color, wetsand 800 grit, color, wetsand 1000 grit, color, wetsand 1000 grit, clear, wetsand 1000 grit, clear, wetsand 1000 grit, clear, wetsand 1000 grit, wetsand 1500 grit, wetsand 2000 grit, rubbing compound, polish. That about sums it up
woooooo wooooo sounds like someone had fun lol i need to repaint my case sometime, and that right there is what is holding me back lol
I forget exactly...but I gotta give props to mnpctech's tutorial: 120mm turbine fan My only advice would be to use regular bondo instead of the filler/spot putty. The latter is too soft and cracks way too easy. As it was I had to reinforce the bezel with a THICK vertical bead of JB Weld to keep it from flexing so much and cracking my filler.
I did think about stealthing the drives but what I decided on was to just fill in the "DVD" and other embossed symbols to give a smoother look. Not as smooth as stealth, but kind of "generic" looking. Which is what I was after, I guess. To un-rivet the case, I just drilled out the rivets with a 3/16" bit (I think that was it). I used a pop rivet gun from Sears to put it back together. Worked like a champ.
That's what I was thinking of doing. The rivets come in different sizes, right? And since you used a 3/16" drill bit, I assume you used 3/16" rivets when it went back in, correct?
