I use an InFocus 118hdx and the screen geometry is perfect but when I call the menu up, it is trapezoidal. Also, in darker scenes i sometimes see the actual rectangle being projected, which is also trapezoidal in shape. The picture displayed is absolutely fine though. Any idea what I can do to correct this?
Move the projector. That's all you can do. Sounds like you've correctly configured the keystone adjustment to give you a perfect image, but the actual projection beam isn't square to the wall - which is why when you turn the lights off you can see a trapezoid on the wall. Why the menus are ignoring the keystone adjustment, though, I have no idea. Put the projector as square-on to the wall as you can and go through the keystone adjustment again. Ideally, you want as little adjustment as possible (so no trapezoid surrounding the nice rectangular picture) - the more heavy the adjustment, the lower the actual resolution. (The claimed Full HD or whatever resolution refers to the full beam, so if you're wasting a bunch of it around the edges for keystone correction you're actually watching a lower-resolution image - like putting a small picture in the middle of your monitor and looking at it through a magnifying glass...)
Jeez! This is great info. I have been extremely happy with the resolution as it is! If I can somehow get it better too then I'll be amazed! It's currently sat as far back as I can go in the small room. It's sat about maybe 8 to 12 inches above the centre of the image. I thought that was preferable to ceiling mounting it. As it is, I have no way of getting it lower without compromising the cooling of the projector so it looks like I'm in the market for a new shelving unit that's exactly the right height. Thanks for the reply pal, you have helped a lot. The menu is used so infrequently that it's not important, but I'm a pedant when it comes to setting things up correctly.
