am I ?
We've been using big chunks of plexiglas where aluminum would be too expensive. You will want to use an etching primer on it.
You should rout it too. If you fear it will take to long, make sure your zero point is where you can park the machine overnight, and take note of the line you stopped at. The 'go to' function is a lifesaver.
Yeah i was thinking about summin like that, but im not really sure yet, if u have a close look at my nautlus contest entrys u can see that theres a swivel function build in the ring ( which will be servo activated in the mod... in my dreams ) so i would have to reinforce it with aluminium plates or something...
concerning the actual contest, its just too much work to fail getting more votes then darky
concerning my sanity;
This is me working on nautilus
this is my number plate....
Ummmm yeah.... and how's "FrankenRouter" these days...
lurking somewhere in the shadows....
I made up my mind for the ring, its gonna be routed either from acryl or from pom /pe and then sandwhiched between aluminium, the whole things gonna be visibly bolted together, that way i can easily mount the stand, the motherboard tray and various holders for fans ( or if someone is willing to sponsor me ) radiators.
Oh hai, just some pics...
Preheated in the oven
Stuff u need if ure working with epoxy:
Epoxy and a scale
Custom high tech stirring device
Paint roller an some cups
One of the molds soaked
both of them back in the oven
after curing i applied some putty
sanded and applied some more putty
then i went to the laquering booth
and srayed them with filler
thats where theyre sitting now
I remember seeing this in the design contest last year. It's nice to see it in production. Those wooden moulds look like pebbles in some of those photos. Can't wait to see it progress!
i love your design mate! what kind of hardware is going in it? mini-ITX i suppose?
P.S. shouldnt this be transferred to project logs now?
Water cooled m-atx, air cooled full atx, im not sure if its in the right sub forum ?
I have one of those! -Only I swiped someones mixer blades out of a junkpile for it.
I also have a handy travel version made from a coat hanger.
We could use you in the contest. The prizes are heftier this time too.
CF, great design, Cheaps' approval... how could I NOT subscribe?

Great update, nice to see you cover all those steps of your mold prep process!... You maybe the one with the hangover, but what did you do to poor "Frank"?
Could you do us a favor and write a bit about layering CF when you get to it? I've been wanting to do a FG/CF project for ages bud don't have access to vacuum bags etc.
