    Original story

It's been said that the police exist not to protect society from criminals, but rather to protect the society from itself. Cases like this point out how true that is. Perhaps the mother is guilty, but our legal system proclaims her innocent until provewn guilty in a court of law. The problem with subverting that system is that when you start making exceptions to the rules that protect those who may be guilty, you equally harm those who may be innocent. :worried:

To quote (I think) Benjamin Franklin, "It is better that a hundred guilty men go free than one innocent man be wrongly imprisoned"

Wait till they start burning baby dolls or nailing them to a wooden cross.. that's when you get worried.

It's strange that when a young middle class girl goes missing after her parents decided to go out for drink. They get international support. But when a young working class girl goes missing her parent/s they get hounded. Her story is a bit fishy I will admit.

    Tis true.

Her story is very iffy though, she probably did do it. But what right do these people have to do this outside of her house, I assume the neighbours are getting pretty miffed about the whole thing.

And if she does turn out to be innocent (unlikely) will these people formally and sincerely apologise? Or will they simply disband and leave the area looking not unlike a former Pikey site?

More likley they'll go on claiming that she's really guilty and that the evidence that proved her innocence was fabricated in a cover up.

Surely what they are doing is illegal? Harrasment of some sort? I can't stand it when people take it upon themselves to decide if someone is guilty usually because "they look like that sorta person" or they just "have a feeling".

    Sorry, couldn't resist... :D

So they have no concrete proof but they are disrupting life for the whole neighbourhood, can't wait to see what happens if/when she's found guilty. :hehe:

    very well summarised :)

Nothing surprises me if it's about a group of [x] americans doing [crazy thing] anymore. The expression "only in America" is going to become a eulogy to the 21st century in years to come.

Tests of Casey Anthony's Pontiac show that a human body was decomposing in the trunk of the car.

Even if she is guilty, it's not up to random people to try to coerce her into a confession. What we are seeing here is but one small step from a lynch mob.

Hm. The Fox News one is passable, as I've seen a very similar article from WESH news (IIRC), but the BloggerNews one I would take with a bit of salt. Seems like a lot of opinion with the "meat" from other articles pasted in.

Agreed. Not only that, but the ones who went and got in a scuffle in front of the garage doors are just begging to have trespassing, vandalism, and disorderly conduct charges. But then that may be their aim, considering the right-wing Machiavellian mindset that is been so pervasive in America these past eight years...

People are stupid. Sure, she may be guilty, but these people aren't trying to get evidence of that guilt, they're just hounding her until she cracks. The cops should at least remove the protesters, if they're being a nuisance
