I have got the chip stupitly thinking any fool who has held a soldering iron before should be able to fit this little bugger..........how wrong could I be, I have taken off the case removed the first four screws on the brown pcb and gave up also can anyone tell me what else I am likely to need, ie wires special solder and such like.........any help would be very grateful.Dask :duh:

    ohhhh, it's HARD - you've got to solder to a stack of the chips! Sorry I don't know any sites - try asking google.

    But I can tell you you'll need a stack of small wires and some epoxy/heat gun. Also, a whole stack of time.

    Good luck!

    PSxGoods Those guys have a good diagram of how to wire up the mod, I personally shipped my board to him and let him do the wireing for me because I also purchased the chip from him. The soldering points are a bit smaller than my paws can work on so I didnt even try to attack my board. Good luck.

    yea this looks kinda hard to do (and costs like $70usd)

    picture of an installed messiah chip

    looks kinda difficult. just look for a butane soldering iron with a tiny tip and some good quality solder and a magnafying glass on a flexible arm thing. and some steady hands =) :dremel:

    dont break anything.

    good luck.

    I myself couldnt find a tip for my butane that was small enough to tackle it with one of the more pressing reasons I declined to attack my PS2 myself.

    For a smaller soldering tip, coil a piece of solid wire around the tip and let the slack stick out a little bit. Old soldering trick.

    ==\\\\=-- something like that...
