    Hi,
can anyone help me out here?

i've got 2 different ps adaptors for my pc and a couple of pads. one adaptor is from a high street store and the other is from play.com.
when i start a game - in this case it's need for speed underground - with the play.com adaptor it's as if i'm pressing the down/up button and so the cursor just keeps scrolling through the menu (i have had this working before but as below, i must turn off the vibration in the game).
the other adaptor works and i can play the game but i must turn off the vibration otherwise the pc locks up. i had xp home on the pc and just upgraded to xp pro cause i thought that might help but it is no different. if i turn the vibrate on, whatever game i'm playing locks up within seconds of actual gameplay.
anyone got any idea what i can do here as i'd like to be able to play this game and others with the vibrate on ??

    thanks

About the play.com adapter, disable the second "port" in device manager (if you only have one pad plugged in)

Does that really work if you disable the one port.

I was down my mates last night, And he had the same problem with the Play.com adapter, he also wanted to play need for speed underground.

I have exactly the same problem in W2K Pro too with NFS.

I can use my controller in Vice City.

In my absurdely extensive research a few years back into making an adaptor for a ps pad, I found only one thing that could possably cause this (if it indeed is only the one type of adaptor that is doing it): not enough power being supplied to the controler. Apparently, if you don't have enough juice going to the controller when using the rumble function, it basicly 'resets' the pad, causing games among other things to lockup. Does the vibration function work in any other game? I'm guessing not, if this is the case, then it may be that there is not enough power going to the controller ;) Because I know if your making a ps/parallel adaptor you need to run a seperate power line so that there is enough power, and it doesn't reset itself as described above. Hope that helps.

So if I was to run a 5V line (it is 5V USB runs on?) from a molex to the convertor it might fix it?
